Epson 1280

Hello, The memory on our epson 1280 got burnt and the epson person told us we need a new main board. Does anyone know a part number for the main board? And is it hard to fix if I were to fix it myself? One more question: What is the difference between the epson 1280 and epson 1280 silver? All help is appreciated. Mel

Epson's part number is 2036865 MAIN BOARD ASSY., Mfg price $107.03 Atlantic Exchange's price. $84.02 Here is the link http://www.atlex.net/availability/addtocart.asp?partnum=58&language=1 enter part number 200. You will also need the adjustment program and the service manual around $18.00 from http://www.2manuals.com. It's not difficult to replace ther main board but you need to you take your time and use a static free area to install the board. The adjustment program is needed to set the head voltage and make the other adjustments. I did not see any technical differences between the regular and the silver model other than the color of the parts. I hope this helps. Wes.

Problem: Both red and green lite flash alternately, even after I pulled plug,rest for 1/2hr and then added back epson carts. Nothing works and the lights keep flashing : ) Anyone know what it want me to do?

that is a maintenance erroe. You need to reset the peotection counter and you should clean or replace the absorber (waste ink) pads. Read here for info on resetting the protection counter http://inkjetprinterhelp.us/epsonSSC.html

Thanks Wes... you fix the problem! I have two other questions I am hoping you can help on. (1) Yellow will not shoot in head print test and so pic come out wrong. I had it cleaned via the coffee filter technic but again the problem is back :( Pulled head and look at it and see nothing to cause this. Looks clean. How to fix please! (2) how to change/clean the waste ink pad and where is it? Sorry for asking this... probably simple problem for most. Much thanks again for responding to the counter problem! ela
