Anonymous: A Service Error where all LED's/Lights are blinking at the same time, or where you get an "Unknown Error Message", or a "General Error Message", or even a message telling you that "Parts inside your printer at the end of their service life. Contact your dealer for replacement", is normally a Maintenance Request Error. The maintenance request error is actually a Waste Ink Ink Pad Error and normally your remedy is to replace the Waste Ink Pad/Pads with a new one/ones and then reset the Internal Waste Ink Pad Counter. If you just reset the counter and don't replace the pads, then your printers old pads will eventually overflow and normally start leaking ink out the bottom of your printer. Some people actually wash the ink out of the old pads and then dry them out and simply reinstall them back into their printer. The choice on what to actually do, is yours to make. I knew that would happen I had known abnout that site for about 6 months but it was no longer maintained by Epson. So maybe it was just a matter of time.
I have a few manuals just let me know which one you need and if I have it I'll try to email it to you. But some manuals are over 3MB's so most email addresses can't take them.

When I go to that sight, I get this error message "The Document you requested was not found in this web site." I'm looking for a service manual for C84 mainly to figure out how to get the covers off the printer. I want to look at the printhead area, because after getting paper stuck under the printhead, and pulling out the stuck paper, the print is really messed up. I want to check if I somehow damaged the printhead. Any help appreciated.

Unfortunately, the covers for the C80 are totally different then the C84. My concern is damaging the covers trying to remove them. Is it reasonable to believe that the printhead was damaged by my removing the stuck piece of paper?

Saw45: It would really help to actually know what is wrong with your printer now and just what actually happened and what you did when you got that jam. GENERALLY SPEAKING: Simply removing a paper jam, even a really bad one, does not normally cause damage to the Print Head Assembly, but it can dislodge other parts if it was a difficult jam to remove...THE MOST COMMON PROBLEM: A common problem when you get a constant jam condition, or paper won't feed in correctly after a bad jam was removed, or even when the printer or your computer thinks that the paper has not been correctly loaded: If you have recently had a bad paper jam that you had to forcefully yank out of your printer, especially towards the rear of the printer, in the backwards direction, then its possible that a part was unhooked/unseated, or even damaged. When paper is pulled to the rear/backwards with force, it usually unseats the arm on the "Paper Jam Sensor Assy", resulting in a constant jam condition. Normally, as paper passes thru the printer, it causes a black plastic arm [with a spring attached] to be pushed forward out of the "Paper Jam Sensor". As the trail edge of the paper leaves the plastic arm, the spring causes the plastic arm to be pulled back into its normal position [into that sensor assembly]. When the arm does not correctly return, the sensor is not activated and the printer thinks there is a paper jam [even though you can not see any paper in the paper path], or does not correctly feed-in the paper, because the sensor is not correctly actuated. Of course I have no way to really know whats wrong with your printer, or even if this is your problem but you have to start some place and I've seen this happen many times. Because of the disassembly and troubleshooting involved, you would normally find it easier to do with a Service Manual for reference, but unfortunatly I am not able to locate a source that actually has one available. Check for an e-mail from me, that might help you further in that area, if you are actually able to get the Top Cover off your printer and of course you think this might be your printers possible problem. I have an Epson Stylus C84 lights that are blinking and I can't get it to go away. The paper and power lights are blinking and the ink light are on. I just installed new ink cartridges and the lights went away but when I tried to run a test page all lights came back on. What can I do to get rid of these lights so I can print? Mike: You can go on-line to the Epson Connection web-site, at www.epson.com and see the available telephone numbers to find an "Epson Authorized Service Dealer" near you. You can then contact that an dealer for possible help and service. I'm not sure what you actually mean by "certified", because most Epson Authorized Service Dealers are certified to work on most Epson Printers, but not necessarily all models. Also its simply a general certification and most printer techs only take general printer and scanner training classes, put on by Epson Company. Thats all thats required to be certified to service printers and scanners for Epson Company, once you are an actual Epson Authorized Service Dealer. To my knowledge, most techs that work for an authorized service dealer, do not actually go to separate Epson Training Classes for particular models of printers. If you are tring to find an Epson Technician actually trained on a particular model, then you might want to call the "Epson Customer Relations Department", at 1-562-276-1311 and see if they can help you further. I don't know if Epson Company can actually be of any help, but you can e-mail the Technical Support Department and ask them if any POS Service Manuals are available from any source, that they would recommend. You can e-mail the "Epson Technical Support Department", for possible help or advice, at www.epson.com and then click-on "Proceed With E-Mail". They state on their web-site, that they "will respond via e-mail within 1 business day"...I know in the past, Epson would usually recommend that you check with "NATIONAL PARTS DEPOT" @ 1-800-524-8338; "VANCE BALDWIN ELECTRONICS" @ 1-800-432-8542, "ATLANTIC EXCHANGE" @ 1-888-327-2822, or "COMPASS MICRO, INC." @ 1-800-388-8595. I have a dfx5000 which will not detect/feed paper properly. I replace L/F motor & sensor. Now paper will not feed at all.It tries to feed & stop; just like jerking motion.Any body known how to repair thsi problem.. Also I have a 5000 PLus which will turn off intermittently. I know this a Epson well known problem. What part I have to replace to fix this problem.

INDUNIL: Can't promise you that there will not be problems or errors on any software you download, thats the chance you take, with free software. Its even possible that problems in your Computer System, can cause software problems as well. You can delete your old drivers and download the latest available drivers from the Epson Home Page at http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/index.jsp . As drivers are FREE, I usually recommend trying those first if you have a communication problem. Bad or corrupted drivers can cause many problems. "DEINSTALL" [remove] your old drivers/printer first and then go to the "EPSON.COM" web-site. Click-on "DRIVERS AND SUPPORT" and then click-on your particular type of Epson Printer [example: IMPACT]. Look under the "IMPACT" for your "Epson LQ-2180" and click-on it. Once the "DOWNLOAD PAGE" opens, read the INFORMATION to locate your particular SYSTEM [Win's 95,98,ME,2000.etc.] and then click-on it. Follow the directions and read all the available information concerning your systems driver downloads. Finally at the bottom of the page, click-on "Printer Software Installation for Windows ___ [Epson Printers]", or the "Download" option button. I've read all these posts but I didn't see any solution to my problem: Someone gave me an Epson Stylus Color 800 that has this problem: When I turn it on it makes some noises that could lead to believe that the step-motor has translated his home, after stopping the starting noises the two ink leds remain lighting and the power-on and paper feeding remain flashing. I've tried to use the little buttons to take out the inks but they don't work, the button of paper feeding works but doesn't stop the flashing, even after being with paper. It's no communication with the PC Win2000, no page test works nor aligning and the ink cartridges are a little of ink. I've looked for all around the internet for having the service manual but it doen't seem to exist. Thanks if somebody could help me.

Freak: When the ink light or lights [some models have two ink lights] are on SOLID and the power light and paper light are both FLASHING, that indicates a FATAL ERROR on most Epson Printers. I'm sorry, but just as it sounds, that is the worse possible error on your printer. You may need to try and locate a Service Manual on-line, that you could download for in-depth troubleshooting, disassembly and servicing, if you want to try and locate your possible problem. There are approximatly 10 different things that can cause a FATAL ERROR and most of them involve HARDWARE PROBLEMS [bad/defective/failing electrical parts] in the "carriage assembly" or "paper feed assembly". You would normally know if you have been having any paper feed problems [jams, misfeeds, crooked feeding copies, etc]. You would also normally know if your printer was having any unusual or strange GRINDING NOISES or RATCHETING NOISES, that may indicate a DIRTY or DRY CARRIAGE ASSEMBLY. If your not sure about possible carriage problems, or just to eliminate that area, you might want to clean and lubricate that assembly. You need to eliminate possible problems and the carriage assembly is one of the biggest problem areas and the most common fatal error problem. I will e-mail you some additional information on cleaning that carriage assembly, just in case you want to do it...I have checked and your Epson Stylus Color 800 Service Manual, is available thru "2manuals.com", at http://www.2manuals.com/product_info.php?cPath=2_18_39&products_id=139 , for around $9.00...Good Luck! I can tell you that an "E6" is a FATAL ERROR, which is usually a "Carriage Load Measurement Error" and is usually caused by a defective or failing "Paper Width Sensor". You may need to try and locate an actual Service Manual on-line, to buy and download for reference in disassembly, troubleshooting and servicing. Sam: As your "C20SX" printer model is not listed on the Epson USA web-site & only the C20UX is actually listed on the Epson Australia web-site, you might want to try loading the generic C20 Printer Driver thats listed on the EPSON UK web-site, at http://emeasupport.epson-europe.com/downloads.aspx?LNG=en-G . You should delete your old drivers first and then click-on that web-site and click-on the "C20" model and then your operating system. However, you can delete your printer and its drivers and then download the latest available drivers from the Epson Home Page at http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/index.jsp . As drivers are FREE, I usually recommend trying those first if you have a possible communication problem. Bad or corrupted drivers can cause many problems. DEINSTALL [remove] your old printers first and then go to the epson.com web-site. Click-on your particular area, where you live [example: USA]. Then click-on DRIVERS AND SUPPORT and then click-on your particular type of Epson Printer [example: INKJET]. Look under the Ink Jet Printers for your "Epson Stylus Color ___" and click-on it. Once the DRIVERS & DOWNLOAD PAGE opens, read the INFORMATION to locate your particular SYSTEM [Win's 95,98,ME,2000.etc.] and then click-on it. Follow the directions and read all the available information concerning your systems driver downloads. Finally at the bottom of the page, click-on "Printer Software Installation for Windows ___ [Epson Printers]", or the "Download" option button. Follow the link to epson website http://www.epson.com Then search in printers for cx6400. I tried it and it list the driver there. Then just click on download and save it in your programmes folder under epson, and name it epson cx6400 driver.

Please help me with my current printer HP DESKJET 1180C, I have encountered noticed the problem ever since I first use the printer immediately when i bought it and ignored it thinking that I only have an incorrect driver for my winxp OS. The problem goes like this.... sometimes in the middle of printing process it will just suddenly stop and eject the paper even if it is in the middle of the paper and havn't done printing all the content of the page and it will just stop there. And most of the time it is printing the image in a distorted shape. Particularly when I'm printing a business card 10 pcs. in 1 whole sheet of 8 1/2 x 11 size of board paper it will print the whole page but sometimes it is not a perfect square...things like the whole printing became a little wavy and not in a perfect shape. I HOPE SOMEBODY CAN HELP ME WITH THIS...PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE...
P.S. i've tried to use different softwares and drivers but to no avail.
Very strange you would post an HP problem in an Epson Service Manual thread. Perhaps you should think about starting your own thread if you really want someone to notice the post and help you.

manu407: I'm sorry, I don't actually use that SSC Service Utility, so I'm not that framiliar with it. However, you can download the SSC Service Utility at http://inkjetprinterhelp.us/sscserve.exe and see if its available to use on your particular model of epson printer. You can also check and see if your printer model is actually compatible to that ssc utility, by going to http://inkjetprinterhelp.us/epsonSSC.html . If you need some info on using the SSC Service Utility try this page http://www.wesesweb.web1000.com/epson.html . If that utility is available to use on your printer model, then you can try their individual color or black printhead cleaning, to try and open up those possibly closed nozzles. They also have a powerful cleaning process that you can use, but it uses up more of your ink. People have posted messages saying that the more powerful cleaning process, actually helps to flush out closed nozzles, but I have never actually used it. That ssc service utility, offers some useful services for epson printers, like cartridges hot swap, csic enabling/disabling, waste counter reset and so on. Most of these functions are built in the printer, but they are not readily available, except by using an actual epson service manual, or thru an actual reset procedure. Although that ssc service utility has been created to help with printer troubleshooting and related ink procedures, it is not designed for most normal printing needs. Unfortunatly, that utility does not work on all epson printers and was designed for the windows operating systems, so you will have to check it out for yourself...Here's some previously posted info that may also help. "NEWUSER Re: Epson Error and power light flashing by newuser (4/5/05 11:10 AM). To reset the error download this utility: http://inkjetprinterhelp.us/epsonSSC.html . Once installed run the program and configure it, closing the main window and right clicking the icon in the tray area, from there choose Configure and select your printers model. After configuration, select Protection counter -> Reset protection counter, it should be able to clear the error message. If that does not actually work, then the only suggestion I can give is to perform a soft-reset before resetting counter. Remove also the Epson status agent, it detects errors and it may hinder communication with the printer, then reboot your pc. As profile choose the one sscservice didn't use after autoconfiguration, check for printer response. Remember that you should also clean the waste ink pads located at the printer bottom. Epson 640c has been great until recently...did not use it for about a month and now it is hopelessly clogged. Benn advised that one can remove print head and soak in warm water of special solvent...Problem: do not see how to remove the head...can anyone help?
Once had similar problem...inspection showed a small corner of a sheet had torn off on the right side of the carrige and hindered proper feeding...it was less than an inch long and hard to see...once found and removed with needlenose pilers all was well

I know this is a newer printer but I'm looking for a Service Manual for the Epson Stylus Photo R1800. I've checked the "for sale" service manuals and can't seem to locate this one. However the Epson website says that service manuals can be bought from an "Authorized Dealer" however I can't find one that sells the service manuals. Any suggestions on where to look?

I didn't have a problem downloading the driver from epson website. My problem is when I try to install it to my computer microsoft tells me that the driver isn't compatiable with my computer. Microsoft warns me that this wouldn't be a good Ideal to install this driver it tells me that it could hurt my computer if not now it could later on should I just ignore that message thanks for your help ps this is a the driver for the epson printer rx500

Hi, I am getting this message on my RX500 Service Error message, "Parts inside your printer at the end of their service life. Contact your dealer for replacement", is normally a Maintenance Request Error. I called Epson Support and Paid $10 to ask a service support person and he told me he had no idea of the problem and I should take it to a service center for repair. I mentioned to him about some of the comments on found on website's about resetting the counter and he thought I was crazy. OK fine. So I call a service center and they want anywhere between $100 to $150 to repair. This is nuts.... The printer worked fine one day and the next, it just stopped and gave me this ridiculas message. No exageration, it worked perfectly on Monday and stopped on Tuesday. I am pissed. Epson has no clue and expects me to pay money to a service center to fix. They must be nuts. I have been on some of the websites listed above and could not find the manual for the RX500. I tried the reset software on ssclq.com and it did not help. Does anyone know where to find a service manual or Something that would help. I am not happy with Epson and if I have to go out and buy a new printer, it will not be an Epson,... ever.

sounds like mine, but it slows at left habd side but when it comes back there is a line on it, I;m going to clean both cats with special cleaning carts. but my son says it could be conections that came with printer parallel cable but he's going to connect a usb connection ha says this would be better and faster and MIGHT sort it out. Getting the cleaners from choice stationary thats where I get all my ink.
this my not help but you never know will let you know when I get the usb connected.

Problems with my Epson C40UX printer, the red and green light began flashing and a window popped up, saying, take it to your services center because some parts have reached the end of their life.
Printer companies set a “protection counter” on all printers , it’s an internal counter measuring the amount of ink wasted by head cleaning.
Reset the "protection counter" as well as clean the “waste ink pad overflow”.
1. Unplug the power and USB cables from the printer. Pry open the C40UX printer, careful not to break anything. Use a flat blade screwdriver to pry it apart; there are two-three tabs at the back and two at the front. Gently push them in, and then using a bit of force pry apart the cover.
2. Next remove the two (2) waste ink pads. They are located at the back on the left hand side. I used the flat blade screwdriver to lift up the ink pads (they were soaked). Please use rubber gloves as it gets very messy.
3. Next wash them with just plain hot water until they are white again. I just let the hot water run on them (the pads are about three inches long).
4. Once washed dry them using a hair drier. (you could place it the sun for a few hours or on top of your heater or maybe in a heated oven; (make sure you do not set it on fire with too much heat).
5. Once dried place the pads back in the ink waste bin at the back of the printer.
6. Closed the printer cover and put back all the pieces and plug in the USB & power cable and turned it on. (Yes the lights are still flashing).
9. Select your printer and model number ( It only says C40 there is no UX, choose it anyway). It will ask if you replaced with new pads; say “YES”. Then close the window.
10. Now right click on the SSC service utility, it looks like a printer icon near your clock in the task bar.
11. Then click on reset counters. You can do all other stuff with this utility too.
12. Turn off the printer power and then turn it on again. If necessary un-plug the power cord from the back of the printer, wait 20 seconds. Plug it back in.
13. IT WORKS AGAIN.

I've been trying to locate the service manual for Epson Stylus Photo 900. The problem I'm having is with the Print CD feature. I keep getting an error to clean out the blockage, turn the printer off/on and reboot. This doesn't do anything. The only help I get from Epson is to send it out for repairs. Anybody got any suggestions? I've checked the links listed in this forum and so far have had no luck. Ebay doesn't appear to have this particular model's manual either.

I Have an epson c64 with the fault service needed.
just go to the epson website and find your local Epson Express dealer. when you have done that take it into the store for a service it costs around £15 but its better than you trying to do it breaking somthing!

My Epson C86 is CLOGGED! Does anyone know how to unclog an Epson C86 without any damage? All reference to this same proble states "except C64-C86. I HOPE I DON'T NEED TO PURCHASE ANOTHER PRINTER

I have a c86 and my nozzles are clogged. I'm afraid there's no way to fix it using cleaning kits. If you let me download the manual,I will try to fix it someother way and if successful I'll let you know.
