Canon S200 by Anil (3/9/04 10:35 PM) reply + / -
I have been using this printer on USB port for the last few months without problem. I have multi boot Windows 95 Sp Ed, Win2k professional, Win2k Server and Windows XP Professional. Suddenly it has stopped working. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling. No luck. I have gone thru the trouble shooter and tried printing from Notepad and word pad. It does not work. I have tried using a 64Mb USB pocket drive at the same USB Port. The drive gets recognised and works as before. I have an assignment to hand to my professor tomorrow.
Please help

You could have a driver conflict or a corrupted driver. Update the drivers and try a different cable if you have one.

I hope this helps.

Wes.

I have tried uninstalling and re installing the printer a number of times. The messages I get are
"coleecting printer information" and after some time"printer not responding.". Yesterday a friend thought my internet connection(Cable) was too slow and deleted all cookies could that have some thing to do with this??
Thanks
Anil

Cookies are just text files and fairly harmless. For the most part there are only a few things that could cause a problem like the one are experencing. The drivers, The cable, the USB port, the BIOS or the printer has failed. You tried the drivers. So I would try a different cable and check the BIOS. There could be a conflict between the printer and USB pocket drive.

Have you tried the printer on a diffferent computer to see if it prints on that.

Wes.

Thanx every one for your excellent suggestions.
However, the problem lay else where. The status manager told me that I had a paper jam(which I did not) however just taking the paper out and inserting it again took care.
But, now when I print, the first couple of lines are scratchy, but later lines are OK. I have tried head alignment and cleaning and deep cleaning but to no avail.I have tried cleaning the print head from the inside with rubbing alcohol. Printing is good in best quality but that slows the printer so that one essay takes like ages!!
More suggestions please.

Most often it is problem with dried ink stuck in the printhead. You must be very very patient by repeatedly soaking it in very warm water and dry paper towel.
