 | HP officejet k60 by winder (2/26/04 2:41 PM) reply | + / - | We bought this at a thrift store so there's no manual and I'm trying to figure how to use the scanner. I go to the HP director and try to set the Scan to destinations and it keeps saying the printer isn't connected when it is.
Can anyone help?
Thanks!

 | Re: HP officejet k60 by rcolman (8/14/05 2:57 PM) reply | + / - | My HP Officejet K60 has started to refuse to print from any program. However, if I go to the Director and print a test page, it prints fine, but will not print a test page from within windows. I have changed the printer ports, printer cable, and now am using a USB cable. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers, with no joy. When I click on the printer icon in the taskbar, it shows the display on the printer and acts like the printer is fine but still won't let me print.

How can I order, swap or make a replacement power cord? It plugs into wall socket with regular US 112 V plug, and then It has a circular plug into back of printer. I think theres a transformer in between... Please help. Rog

 | HP officejet k60xi & Faxing by Anonymous (6/8/07 11:49 AM) reply | + / - | Help!
I acquired this all-in-one and am trying to figure it out. So far no one has had any answer to this problem so if you do, you're a hp genius!
My situation: My phone, voicemail and fax machine are on 1 phone line. My fax machine is set to pick up after 3 rings (so my phone rings) but then the fax picks up before my voicemail (not answering machine) can answer. It seems like its either phone line or fax machine! My phone is connected through my fax machine so I cannot just unplug the fax machine either.
Any Suggestions???

 | Re: HP officejet k60 by Stephen (6/8/07 6:37 PM) reply | + / - | Buy an answering machine...
Since voice mail connects your line to a central system the line to your phone goes "on hook" as soon as the transfer occurs.
Your fax machine will listen to the line while it is ringing, but as soon as the line is transfered to voice mail that's the end of things.
If you use an answering machine plugged into the ext-2 port of your K60, then when the fax machine detects an incoming fax it will disconnect the answering machine and receive the fax.

If you don't have one email me by clicking on the crossed tools to the right of my name. Tell me specifically what you are looking for. Make sure your email address is correct and not expired.
For some strange reason they can't be download them from HP anymore.

 | Re: HP officejet k60 by Bert (9/7/07 5:12 PM) reply | + / - | Make sure the printer cable is good and connected solidly on both ends. Delete any print jobs backlogged in the print queue and then restart the computer.
If the above doesn't help download the latest driver from HP. Uninstall the old before installing the new. Assuming that you installed the driver that came with the printer, use the uninstaller in the K60 program group created during installation. If you allowed Windows XP to install it's own driver, delete the printer from Printers and Faxes in the Control Panel. http://h10025.www1.hp.com
Reference Page 34 in the User Guide. If you don't have one, email me by clicking on the crossed tools to the right of my name. Be specific about what you want because I can't remember the details of of every post.

What can I do.

 | Re: HP officejet k60 by Bert (12/14/07 4:44 PM) reply | + / - | Below is HP's definition for the the error code. It seems consistent with your description.
252 Telephone line conditions were too poor to receive a fax.
Do The following: 1. Check the telephone line for noise by connecting a phone to it. Press one key on the keypad and listen. A working line should be essentially silent. If you hear cracking or hum on the line call for service. You didn't mention whether or not the problematic fax is coming from one phone number. If your line seems 'clean' then the problem may be with the senders phone line. 2. Unplug the power source for 30 seconds. 3. Use a known good phone cable 4. Make sure the phone cable is plugged in securely on both ends.

 | Re: Re: HP officejet k60 by Anonymous (1/3/08 10:49 AM) reply | + / - | make sure the autoanswer button is depressed. It is among the buttons on the left side of the keypad. If this is not depressed, the fax will not arrive.

 | Re: Re: HP officejet k60 by Anonymous (6/16/08 8:23 PM) reply | + / - | You can order a replacement power cord directly from HP, or most any large computer parts place on line. You might also check Ebay. Be sure you're specific about the printer, though; there's an Office Jet K60 and a later edition, Office Jet K60ii or something. Parts SHOULD be interchangable but.. why chance it?

 | Re: HP officejet k60 by myca (12/13/08 11:36 AM) reply | + / - | HELP! i inherited this printer from an old roommate and every time i try to print it says "Press enter to align cartridges." I've done this about 20 times and it always says it failed. Any advice???
(I've printed before and its just now doing this!!! I've also taken the cartridge out and put it back in multiple times. Restarted several times. At a loss...!)

 | Re: HP officejet k60 by Bert (12/13/08 10:30 PM) reply | + / - | All colors must be present in order to align the cartridges, i.e. black, yellow, magenta, and cyan. http://h10025.www1.hp.com

 | Re: HP officejet k60 by jerry.morris@insight (4/11/09 1:32 PM) reply | + / - | I keep getting a print cartridge jam error. Went to HP, did all that - still an error. When the power is off and unplugged the print cartridge moves freely. However, I did not a connect (tape) that is gray and runs along the back side behind the print head. It appears to be unplugged but I cannot tell how to plug it back in or where. I cannot find data on line to assist. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've had this printer since 2001 and it's been fantastic, just moved a lot.

 | Re: HP officejet k60 by Bert (4/11/09 8:00 PM) reply | + / - | The encoder strip threads through a optical sensor on the backside of the carriage and connects to spring hook on the left and stationary hook on the right. You will have to remove the case in order to reinstall it. If you need clarification on how the encoder strip is installed email me for photos by clicking on the crossed tools to the right of my name. Be specific about what you need.
Officejet K60 removing the case
Tools Needed T10 Torx head driver Medium slot style screwdriver
Preliminary Open the cover and allow the carriage to center, then unplug the power.
Removing the outer case 1. Open the carriage access door and remove six screws, four silver and two black. 2. Remove the end covers by releasing two latches on each. They unlatch identically. On either cover, pry under the flange on the front, just below the scanner, with a slot style screwdriver. The first latch will release. Pry under the flange where the front most silver screw went through. The second latch will release. The end covers will now be loosened but will not readily slip off (horizontally). Some coaxing will be necessary. 3. Remove the cartridge access door assembly. Viewed from rear, there are two slots about 3/8” long. Insert a slot style screwdriver into one of them and pry downward while pulling upward on the door assembly. The assembly will partially release. Pry similarly in the other slot and the rear of the assembly will completely release. Pull upward and the latches in front will release and the assembly will come free.
Removing the scanner 1. Unplug all of the cables coming from the scanner that go to electronics board. Take note of how the ribbon cables plug because they can be rotated 180 degrees. 2. Remove the two screws securing the scanner. They are in the cartridge access area. Also remove the screw securing the green wire to the printer body. 3. Pull the scanner straight back and it will come free of the printer. Some wiggling will be necessary.
Removing the inner case 1. Remove four screws; one at each corner, and the case will lift off.
