epson 1270 and 1280 utilities on OSX by Dan Stiles (2/19/04 10:26 PM) reply + / -
I have a 1270 and a 1280 newly running on Panther and now that the heads on my printers are clogged I'm noticing that OSX doesn't seem to have Epson utilities. Can someone tell me if I can download something to fix this, or is there a work around?

You could check the Epson site and see if they have updated drivers for your O.S. here's the link to the drivers page http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/SupportProductCategory.jsp? BV_UseBVCookie=yes&oid=-10237&infoType=Downloads#cat0 I tried to check but the site is down at this time. If you can't find a updated driver you can buy the print head cleaning kit from here http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/kea0.html

For whatever reason both Apple and Microsoft have both decided to include built in drivers that are stripped down and offer little or no options to the user. The only option for most people is to try downloading updated drivers and try to get back what the operating system has taken away.

Some have even gone back to lower versions of their operating systems. Maybe Apple is aware of this driver issue and will release a update fixing this problem.

I wish you luck.

Wes.

Thanks. They Do have new drivers available, which bring back more control over paper size, print area, etc. However, the usual Epson printer utilities are still nowhere in sight.

Did you try downloading the status monitor sometimes the status monitor is included in the drivers and sometimes it needs to be downloaded seperately.

The ststus monitor should have the other utilities with it.

Wes.
