Where can I download this SSC utility I have read about on here?
I have an Epson 830U.
Would this util reset the cartridges to think they are full after they have been depleted?
I ask coz with my Epson680, if I take the chip out and put it into a programmer to reset it I still get about another 40 pages of printouts even tho epson originally informed me the cartridge was empty.
You can download the SSc utility from here http://inkjetprinterhelp.us/epsonSSC.html Read the page and to should tell you which functions it supports for your printer.
Don't touch ssc!! It's terrible. I know of one epson 950 that has been binned after being ssc'd! Mine was on it's way to the bin until I discovered the official but secret! reset procedure. It makes a real mess of the eeprom memory. If you have prob's let me know. Andy
I don't have the info on that exact model but give this a try. Hold down the Load/Eject button, The cleaning button. Press the Load/eject button again while pressing the Paper End indicator light is flashing. Timing is the key to getting it right. This reset is from a sinulat model.
Help!! I have an Epson Stylus Color 880 that was working great 'til I had a paper jam (small one) and removed the paper. Now all lights are flashing and it says it calls for maintenance. Where is the reset on this thing??
Teres: A Service Error where all LED's/Lights are blinking at the same time, is normally a Maintenance Request Error. The maintenance request error is actually a Waste Ink Ink Pad Error and normally your remedy is to replace the Waste Ink Pad/Pads with a new one/ones and then reset the Internal Waste Ink Pad Counter. Some people actually wash the ink out of the old pads, by holding them under running cold water, then dry them out and simply reinstall them back into their printer. Thanks Guys,My problem is with a C20 Epson & the fatal error only appeared after I tried to use the sscserve resetting program, so I have inadvertently affected the EPROM program somehow rather than having a mechanical problem. The C20 only has 2 buttons, on/off & maintenance. Is there a reset pattern for this? Is it just a matter of using the EPROM setting feature in sscserve or will that only get me in deeper?
John: To my knowledge, there is no Reset Procedure for a FATAL ERROR CONDITION on an Epson Printer. A fatal error is usually caused by either a service related problem that requires some cleaning, servicing and possibly lubrication, or an actual Hardware/Parts Failure. I'm sorry, but just as it sounds, that is the worse possible error on your printer. My guess is that your printer was probably already dirty and in need of some servicing and thats why the first problem occured [Waste Ink Pad Error Condition]. For some strange reason, one problem [even a paper jam, or sometimes simply replacing ink cartridges], seems to be enough to trigger other conditions that were already pending or close to occuring anyway. You may need to try and locate a Service Manual on-line, that you could download for in-depth troubleshooting, disassembly and servicing, if you want to try and locate your possible problem. There are approximatly 10 different things that can cause a FATAL ERROR on most Epson Printers and most of them involve HARDWARE PROBLEMS [bad/defective/failing electrical parts] in the "carriage assembly" or "paper feed assembly". You would normally know if you have been having any paper feed problems [jams, misfeeds, crooked feeding copies, etc]. You would also normally know if your printer was having any unusual or strange GRINDING NOISES or RATCHETING NOISES, that may indicate a DIRTY or DRY CARRIAGE ASSEMBLY. If your not sure about possible carriage problems, or just to eliminate that area, you might want to clean and lubricate that assembly. You need to eliminate possible problems and the carriage assembly is one of the biggest and most common problem areas, that cause that Fatal Error Condition. I will e-mail you some additional information on cleaning that carriage assembly, just in case you want to do it...Good Luck! Denny Conway...P.S. I have not checked, but you can normally find Service Manuals for most printers, at www.2manuals.com (most Service Manuals can usually be downloaded for around $10 /- ), or from http://www.sm.copyprofi.net/index.htm [check prices of available Service Manuals].

hello guys!!! i have a c41SX model printer. my problem is when i print some documents there`s nothing appear even a single letter on it. ill replace the cartridge with a new one and ill run the ssc utility but still nothing printing out.. is there`s any one who help me for my problem thanx...
The print head is clogged. Try running the print head utility a few times. Clean the print heads by performing a head cleaning followed by printing a nozzle check pattern. A head cleaning and nozzle check pattern must be performed as a cycle. After printing a nozzle check pattern, examine the printed dot pattern. Each staggered horizontal and straight vertical line should be complete, with no gaps in the dot pattern. If there are gaps in the dot pattern, continue with another cycle. Perform up to 3 cycles if necessary.
Hi Kruger I am from Argentina, Can you tell me wich option of SSC are you using for your epson c43ux? I've some problem to resset and freeze mi ink cartriges
This can direct all waste ink to an external tank where you will never ever use your waste ink pad, meaning you do not have to replace pad if it is full.

When you download and install the SSC utility you must right click on the icon in your taskbar and select "Show Main Window" to select your printer in BOTH boxes ---- the main list AND "Installed Printers" before the reset and other functions will work. After setting this you again right click on the icon and select "Protection Counter" --- "Show Current Value" to see the current count and the maximum limit allowed. If it needs resetting the 2 numbers will be very closely or exactly the same. To reset go back into the "Protection Counter" ---- "Reset Protection Counter".
You saved my day David! i had the r200 and ssc always worked fine for it. have the r220 now and tried all night to get it to reset it ( got really pissed off and went to bed before i threw it out a window or something). read you post and it made me realize that the bottom box was still set to r200 and the top was set to r220. It's all good now! thanks for jarring my memory.

Almost threw away my R230 coz it don't work anymore. LED lights blinking and nothing can be done. I had open up the casing and try meddling with a few parts inside but wasn't successful. Until I came across this thread, downloaded the ssc, reboot, configure the scc and disable the epson monitor and my R230 works again. It's just like magic after felt much dissapointed.
We have used the SSC utility for more than a year, with Epson Stylus Photo 820 and others, with not a single glitch or problem. Though the instructions are worded a bit stilted, it's easy to use, and if you experiment, you'll find how to do it.
We reset our cartridges often, and do dozens a month.
So, we cannot agree with wolfytom's conclusion, but your mileage may vary.
Help! I went through the process of washing out my waste ink pads on my Epson Stylus 880.
After reassembly I used the SSC program to reset the protection counter. It responded as described by some of you fellows, indicating that it was reset. Then the on/off light continued to blink and also the paper light. Both ink lights were on and stationary.
Now the printer does not respond, except that when I turn on the printer, the ink carriage moves very slowly to the opposite end, then returns to its stored position very quickly
Looking for help, I found this latter condition indicated a paper scrap stuck somewhere. I can't find what may be causing the problem-----can't locate a paper scrap or other obstacle.
What should my next step be? Dismantle again? I felt lucky to get my Epson 880 back together. Could the problem be in my carriage assembly? I'm not in a position to take the printer to a repair shop.
Remedies for Fatal Error A fatal error is basically caused by any of the following conditions: -The printer does not detect the carriage in the home position. -The printer does not detect signals from the linear scale. -The ASF sensor does not detect the ASF home position.
PROBLEM When the Printer is powered on: • The CR unit moves in the capping area.(CR unit is fixed with CR lock lever.) • The CR unit moves and strikes the left frame because it is not fixed with the CR lock. After that, the Panel LED indicates the Fatal Error.
FIX Check the CR Encorder sensor board visually. • In case the CR Encorder sensor board is not mounted in the sensor mounting position, mount it in the CR mounted position securely. • In case the CR Encorder FFC is disconnected from the connector on the CR Encorder sensor board, connect it securely. Also check that the sensor is free from dust and paper debris.
Wow, Inkinawink! That was impressive. However, I wish I could understand your suggestions, and put them into use.
The CR, I take is the movable ink carriage. I don't know what or where the "capping area" is or where or what the "locking lever" is. But it seems that I need to find a way to get the CR to lock.
I'm assuming that the "CR encorder sensor board" is the key to the problem. Can you tell me where to find it and what it looks like, and further, how to recognize the integrity of mounting position when I do locate it?
A similar question applies to the "CR Encorder FFC" connection to the "Encorder Sensor Board".
I feel confident that I will recognize debris when I locate the parts you suggest are malfunctioning.
I suppose a manual including pictures for my Epson 880 would be a help. But I don't have one. When attempting to download one from advice from fixyourownprinter, I get a blank screen.
You sound like you can help me, but I need more specific instructions. Can you do that, or lead me to a place that will. Thanks, Dave
Looks like it was taken directly out of the Epson Service Manual, except for the repetitive misspelling of "encoder". I certainly wasn't impressed. Looks like gibberish to a novice. The encoder is a device that determines the position of the CR or the cartridge holder assembly. It does it through the use of a plastic encoder strip with lines on it that runs the length of the printer. The encoder board has some electronics on it and an optical sensor, composed of an LED and a photocell. The LED shines through the encoder strip. The photocell counts the lines as they pass by and thus determines where the assembly is and instructs it when and where to print. The capping area is on top of the service station to the right of the printer. That is the cartridge park position where the heads are cleaned and "capped" so the ink doesn't dry out and clog.
Thanks Moe. I think I have identified the encoder strip as the clear, gray, 1/4" plastic strip that passes through the carriage as it moves from left to right. That strip appears to be intact and mounted securely. In looking around the ink pad assembly I do not see anything electronic, so I'm assuming the encoder board and sensor are part of the Carriage assembly. How do I access it to determine if it's dirty? Or, where else might I look? Thanks again, Dave
Hey i tried to help. I found the service manual, and the information within that might help solve the problem. That is what this forum is for right? To help people with fixing their printers? Spelling mistakes in service manuals are hardly a concern, and certainly not mine. Interpretation of the instructions in the said service manual are not my responsibility either. I helped point the person in the right direction to repairing his printer, if someone else can take over from there, and help him/her further, then that is wonderful, and what this forum is here for. I am not here to IMPRESS anyone, just to help if i can, and I feel I did that. And your welcome kosteldave, it was my pleasure :)
Whoa! I hope everyone helping can sit back and reflect a bit. I'm truly sorry if anyone gets offended. That said, I'm hoping for some additional information ----like, how do I access the sensor and its mounting? Thanks. Dave
When I respond to questions, I try do it from the point of view that the poster doesn't know the difference between an inkjet and a laser, which most don't. I realize tigerwan was trying to help, but service manuals are not written from practical field experience, they are purely theory. This makes them mostly useless. Considering the misspellings, it was probably written by an English speaking person in Japan. I've seen misspellings in HP manuals as well, photos printed backwards, and all kinds of other mistakes. This is why I don't use service manuals. Instead of helping, they usually make the repair take twice as long.
Thanks for your comments, Moe. I grasp your frustration with manuals. However, I have neither a manual or the practical knowledge it takes to make my 880 printer viable. If you could respond to my question about the location and access to my 880's encoder, I would appreciate it.
Another Question, I bought this used Epson 880 because I was having trouble with my Epson stylus 740. Having used the 740, and liking it for several years, I wanted to continue with Epson machines. Another reason is that available ink is cheaper.
I recently moved from a humid climate, where I never had problems with the ink pad drying out, to a very dry climate. Now, If I don't use my 740 every day, my black ink stops flowing. The cleaning of the print head works most of the time, other times not. Then I go through the process of wetting the ink pad with windex, and that usually works. Right now however, with a recently installed new black cartridge, I am not able to get the ink flowing. My color cartridge seems to do ok. Do you know what may be going on that my black ink is so stubborn?
And perhaps a dumb question: Why is it wrong to remove a cartrige from the CR and then place it back in? I would like to try cleaning under the cartridge. If I do, must I replace the nearly full black cartridge with a new one?
I really appreciate your help. A printer novice, Dave
Hello kosteldave I'm familiar with the encoder set up on the C86, which from Moe's description suggests it's common to most (all?) Epsons. The encoder strip (which you have identified as the thin plastic ribbon with thousands of vertical lines on it) passes through a thin slot at the top rear of the ink carriage. This slot locates the encoder strip in the correct position for the 'reader' to count the lines on the strip as the carriage zips back and forth. Thus the encoder electronics are by the slot on the carriage. I'm not familiar with the internals of the encoder unit, but you must slide out the strip before working on it. Remove the encoder strip by first releasing its tension spring at the left end. Then unhook it from the metal retaining tang at the right end. The left end is still retained by a slot and hook, which requires a 90 degree turn of the strip. Do this by first pulling the strip through the carriage slot to the left side. Using tweezers, you can then manouvre the strip off the retainer hook at the left end. You'll probably have to remove or at least displace the carriage to get into the encoder itself. Releasing the carriage from the chassis guides might be complicated. On the C86, you must release two lugs/snap fasteners each side of the carriage body. When that's done, the carriage splits into two sections horizontally. This separation opens the guide system enough to lift the carriage off the chassis. Yours may differ in the detail.
As to removing carts to work on the print head, I do it all the time. Mainly to reset the chips after the SSC Utility finally zeros them. Anyway, the reason people say not to do it is you lose hydraulic lock between the ink in the cart and the ink feed system in the head. Personally, I've never found this a problem to overcome. After working on the head, replace the cart and run as many cleaning cycles as required to suck out the air in the lines. It's a slow job, but a darned sight better than fitting new carts every time. The reason new carts work so well is the complete absence of any air within them. They are packed under vacuum, so peeling off the strip to vent them through the top ensures a bubble-free flow straight away. And it's a good money spinner for Epson. But if you take my advice you won't use Epson Durabrites anyway. They are the surefire way to blockages.
My Epson stylusPhoto 950 needs resetting as the Red ink button is on all the time and the green power button is flashing. Just fitted new ink tanks, and waste ink tank must be full as all ink indicators are showing greyed out with a cross on each. Can anyone let me have the reset info. Last time it happened it cost me Ł25 to have it reset, 2 minutes work. Thanks vey much .
David's fix saved my printer. I was ready to throw it away. I am very mad at Epson. Very shady way getting to buy a printer. Thanks David. You Rule. hello I have an epson stylus photo r230 printer and the ink error just came out. I have used ssc but the red light on the ink out button won't go away. I have used this on two r230 printers. I would appreciate some help. Thanks guys :)
SSC Utility doesn't stop the ink running out. Once the ink out light shows, you have to do something about it. Like change the cart or reset the chip. The printer should tell you which cart to check. JaX
Hello I have an Epson Stylus Photo RX425 printer, where all the lights are blinking, indicating that the ink waste pads have to be replaced, which I did. I used the SSC service utility program to reset the counter, without success. The RX425 is not listed in the configuration setup, so I used the unsupported model. Even so it said that the counter is reset, the lights are still blinking, and the printer is not working . Can anybody help me? Thanks Greetings from the Canary Islands John
Yup, i'm quite sure it's the waste ink pad. but alternatively there's a chance that u dont have to change it yet, you only need to reset the waste ink counter. In doing so...u need a program such as the one i've posted prior to your message.
Help, i have the epson stylus photo rx425 and all the lights are flashing and and it says it needs maintenance, now i have read everyones tips and i used the ssc reset program and yet it hasnt work and still the lights are flashing!

help me plsssss.my printer epson r230 is keep on stopping after printing of 4 copies of a4 size.....it wont finish the last a4 it seems it was paused.help me plsssssssss.
I was encouraged to learn there's hope for my Epson Stylus C62, which was printing perfectly up until the "Service Required" message popped up. I understand this was due to the setting related to the projected number of start-ups/head cleanings anticipated to fill the waste pad, and that the counter can be reset using the SSC Service Utility.
When I went to the site to download the software, I saw that it was for Windows only. Does comparable software exist for Mac users?
I just reset the ink pad counter on my Epson RX425. When you've downloaded the SSC utility, look for the "rx42*" printer option (it's buried in a string of printer types) when you are configuring it for the printer type. Once installed and configured, go to the SSC icon in the system tray (picture of a printer) and right click it. One of the options is for Protection Counter. Chose the reset option (you need to enter "yes" to say you've changed the ink pad) and then switch the printer off and back on again.
Read the Help file in SSC first.
I tried to get to the ink pad but couldn't get the printer case open. Has anyone else been able to get at the ink pad?
My red ink light is on, on my Epson c86 printer. It happened when I tried non-epson cartridges. when I went back to Genuine epson cartridges, the red light won't go off and the printer is not usable. Anything that you can tell me will be appreciated.

Printer head is clogged, there is no way to fix it unfortunately. You can try the cleaning kits here, but low chance it will fix it if there is Zero magenta.
sir, i read your advise regarding epson fatal error and it seems i had the same problem i heard ratchering and grinding noises in my printer. I brought my printer n epson service center i guest three times with the same problem they can fix but after a few days it go back again with the same problem. im tired fed up in this routine so i decide to fix it by myself i dis assemble my R230 epson printer i remove the carriage assembly and clean the head including the sensor near the head. After i cleaned the assembly i asseble and try to run, unfortunately it gives error the lights of ink and paper blinks at the same time. According to the manual there is a paper inside the printer and the carriage assembly does not move, but, there is no paper inside. If i remove the paper and the error occured again i have to bring my printer to the service center. Can you help me how to solve this error, 2 lights blink at the same time. I have the resetter, but it does not work with this kind of error.
Please advice me what the best i can do for my printer.
Hi, Hope someone can help. I have an Epson 1290 which has stopped working. When I switch it on it goes through the initial startup then the red light comes on and stays on ( not flashing) The green light is not on. I have read through this thread and tried the SSC program to try to reset the ink counter but it does not fix the problem. I have also tried numerous combinations of holding different buttons when switching on with no success. Can someone tell me what the permanent red light means, and if it can be fixed please. Note- when I use the SSC utility and try "show current value" under the protection counter menu I get the message "some error occurred" I don't know if this is significant and is an indication that the utility has not installed correctly, but I have tried re-installing with no luck.
I have tried running the SSC utility, but when I try to view the "show current value" under the protection counter it says "some error occurred" I don't know if this an indication that the program is not working properly. Also if anyone knows what a permanent red maintenance light, but no green light on an Epson 1290 means I would appreciate their input. I am still trying to find out if the problem is due to the ink overflow or something else.
My Epson Stylus Photo RX530 goes through the motions of printing but it got smudgy and then faint and now nothing at all - the paper comes out clean. The user manual is no help at all, and I've been through all the 'Utility' routines umpteen times. The 'Clean Print Head' results in a number 5 appearing and I can do nothing further until I have pressed the 'Start' button 5 times.. Could all this have something to do with this 'Waste reset Utility' I keep reading about on this site?
i have an epson c79 and a r230. the SSC utility works great with the r230 but it doesnt support the c79. i have even tried opening my c79 and washing the ink waste pad. i tried the indoreset_c79 (just google it) and it works. just follow the instructions carefully. it also works on a number of epson printer models.

Was successfully using "Ink Power" brand compatible cartridges for my Epson CX7000F printer without a problem. Ran out of black ink today and when I put in the compatible cartridge the printer does not recognize it and actually says all the cartridges need to be replaced. Message in screen on printer says " Cyan Magenta Yellow Black Ink Cartridge Error. Cartridge Replacement Necessary." When I put in an original Epson cartridge (old and empty) it works but says empty and needs replaced. Tried unplugging and waiting 30 min. but no luck. Any reason why they were working for a while but not now? Any suggestions to get the printer to recognize the other brands chip?
I have the same problem, Keith. (re. Post of 4/28/2008) It seems as if the fault that results in all the lights on my printer (Epson Stylus Photo 870) flashing renders the printer "non-communicable". When I click "show current value" in SSC, it returns the message: "Printer off, or some other problem". Have you - or anyone else - found out how to get round this problem yet? Thanks.

If you get any answers will you please forward them Thanks Mike
Any gurus out there know how to help reset waste ink counter on an epson cx5000. it's hooked up to my iMac running OS 10,4... or know the combination of buttons to push on the epson cx5000... (the 2manual website didn't have an active link for me to download my manual - still waiting for a reply form them...) help! thanks!
I am using the SSC 4.3 utility on my Epson R340 printer and it is not solving the 'Service required. See your manual for details' message this time. I have successfully used it previously (had to use it almost every time I turn on the printer). I have also redirected the waste ink to an external container. Any suggestions?
Hi Andy I have tried to reset the waste reset utility on a Epson Stylus Photo RX 650 using ssc, the printer when turned on has all lights flashing and comes up with error service required. Can you advise what is the correct reset procedure? Thanks Bob Whyms
Hello how are you? I have a Epson Stylus Photo R230 Printer and keep getting this message: SERVICE REQUIRED Parts inside your printer are near the end of their service life. See your printer documentation. everytime i print something. Can anyone help me? How do i get rid of it? Thanks for your time
I just purchased an R280 and had the same question. Try the following site: http://club.cdfreaks.com/f123/r280-waste-ink-251681/ -- this describes how to reroute the waste ink to an external container. Also at the the bottom is a link to Epson for the reset utility. I tried it and it redirects to another site when the R280 model is requested. It appears to be the correct one (I have not tried it yet). It asks for email address, model and s/n -- they will then send an activation code. I believe this also leads to a download site for the actual reset utility.
I've got an epson sylus photo 830 that has ben doing great work for years... its suddenly decided to flash the green power light and red ink/paper light alternatively. I didn't get any error message. I've tried downloading the SSC utility but this doesn't work but comes up with 'printer off or some other problem'. I've also an Epson diagnostic utility that says the printers busy?
As far as i'm concerned its as dead as a dodo and if nobody out there can help its going to be retired at christmas!
Hi Guys, I've got an epson stylus C90 series, but can't read by SSC utility version 4,30. Please help me for that problem. What version can read epson stylus c90, and where i can get it. Thank's.
you can take out the ink pad by your own and dry it out with a hair dryer, just need to wait a little bit or you can get a very good waste ink kit like
this page also describes how to install the waste ink to an external bottle for most epson printers..
It's a little item that will save money and hassles and has everything you need, good for the dual tube waste ink tank too. Only 7 dollars and it works for all epson printers, or you can find your own bottle and tubes.
Hi, thanks a lot, your post saved my printer ...and the money i'd have paid for a new one, i couldn't find the right model(RX425) but your hint helped a lot. Thanks again.
Hi, I have an R265, and I have just re-filled the cartridges for about the 6th time. Now it won't start up. All lights are flashing, & the box comes up with:- Service Required. Any help would be apreciated very much. Regards. Fred.
I have an Epson Stylus Photo R260 and I replaced my cartridges about 3 months ago. During initial install, everything was fine. Went to print about a month and a half ago and it's saying the yellow and black are not genuine. They said Epson on the box and the other 4 work. I've tried reinstalling and cleaning the contacts. Any other suggestions?? Really don't want to pay for 2 new cartridges when these should be perfectly fine.
The "non-genuine" scare tactic is something that's specific to Epson's Status Monitor.
You can disable that by going to: - Printers & Faxes - Locate and right click on the R260 printer line - Choose "Printing Preferences" - Click on the "Maintenance" tab - Look for and click on the "Speed & Progress" button near the botton - Tick the "Disable Status Monitor 3" item - Click OK/Done to get out of all the windows you've opened up
You should now find you don't get bugged by the status monitor although you'll need to monitor your ink levels via the printer now.
I encountered a maintenance error on my R230 printer. I tried downloading the SSC Service Utility for Epson Stylus Printer, and its amazing!!! It really worked!!! I thought i already have to dump my printer but with the help of SSC Service Utility I was able to make my printer work again.... Thank you very much!!!!
you can download the software at www.ssclg.com/epsone.shtml
The SSC utility will not reset many of the printer produced in the last 18 months so printers like the:
RX690, T11, DX4450, R1900, NX400, etc... will NOT be reset using it.
Because it's very difficult to find resetter information in one place, I decided to compile a list of the resetters, mod instructions (for fitting an external waste tank) and any other relevant information into a spreadsheet (it took months!)
It also has an introduction to waste ink issues with some clear explanations of what causes them and how to fix them.
Hopefully you'll find it useful.. but PLEASE NOTE... most of the new printers are now only resettable using an adjustment utility from 2manuals. These cost quite a bit of money and are NOT free... Sorry, but Epson have tied things down a lot since adjustment utilities were free.
Also worth noting that there are other resources and information on wasteink.co.uk and I tend to keep that site up to date with any news on guides, tips, etc...
Hope that lot helps some of you trying to find information for your printer.
this has been the greates challenge to me. I can't find anywhere a reset program, or a place where they have it without paying. dam.n every person that has it wants 70 or 80 dollars for it, I think is a little overpriced dont you think? well I hope this fantastic comunity would help me find it as I really need it my multifuntion printer is now a multi-waste because I cant use anything no fax no scaner no printing just because the ink pads have reach the end of their lives :(.
I have an Epson Stylus CX4600. I have reset the waste utility and the printer is working again thanks to many suggestions in the forum. Now I am trying to find how to clean the waste pad so that the ink does not leak under the printer. It has not leaked yet, but I understand that it will if the pad is not cleaned. All the websites I have tried for free downloads of service manuals are from old forums, and those sites no longer exist! Can anyone help me find how to clean the ink waste pad? Thank you!
I have an epson r200 that I just love and I got the same message. I have a mac and need to download the reset software for mac. Does anyone have a source for this???
hey all, i got the 2 dreaded light of death about 3 weeks ago now , so i reset the counters that werent even close to being full anyway, but it fxed the problem, anyway the printer would do a fair bit of printing but then it wud stop so turning it off and on again would stop the light blinking, but now its started and no matter what it wont stop blinking lights :),
Anyway i managed to get an error code 0x50 (CR cannot locate home position) now there is only one place on the web that has anything on this matter, and 1> you have to register 2> its in russian and 3> the translator wont translate the registration pages so no good there.
Anyway i wondered if anyone has seen this problem before and can guide me please.
what i did was borrow a laptop then downloaded the reset software using windows and installed the printer there. once the rest fixed the blinking lights i just installed the printer back to the mac and it works fine until now.
Well I have xp as a partition on my pc, I have tried the sscserve utility but that has no effect I have tried the software that u have to set you pc back to 20th january 2007 for it to work And still nothing, I just have fatal error code something to do with the ink cradle apparently I just think its dead! Epson shouldn't do it they are gay!
Hi all i am having exactly the same problem have used the scc and the resetter where you have to reset the date to jan 20 2007 with still no joy, anyone had the same problem and got a fix would be much appreciated thanks
i dont believe there is a fix out there, i have just basically given up hope and decided to go buy a new printer, someone said the had the genuine epson software and it was gonna cost me, but i think its possibly just the ssc tool all is not worthy the printer i presume is dead!
0x50 carraige.try this --- turn off printer then press and hold down ink button turning printer back on holding both buttons down should go through cycle of new ink cart;ink button will flash, my carraige slid across easily so wasnt engaged i did this and held the carraige till it located , didnt dismantle printer let me know if this works for you thanks... tonytahs@hotmail.com anyone else had truble posting on here?

hello. i have the latest ssc service utility and have tried doing a reset on my c65. after the reset i took the catridge out of the printer and loaded it with ink, put the catridge back and still not working.
the ink light indicator is still lighting up after this procedure and wont print. I already have tried re-installing the printer drivers and still no luck. by the way this is the first time i tried refilling the catridges so the ink waste pad is still very clean. any help will be great.
Please help with my formerly trusty but loved c62. I have all of the symptoms of the waste counter needing resetting, but I can't seem to get it to work for me. I cannot get the ssc utility to allow me to access the waste reset funtion. It only wants to allow me to reset the cartridge counters which don't seem to exist. I would bet money that it is something simple I am missing, but I have tried an awful lot of times. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Jerry
I have an Epson Stylus Photo R2400 printer and I am getting an end of service life error. I am reading all these posts, bot I do not see any for my model. Will the instrctions for some of these other models work on mine? Does anyone know? I would appreciate some help. Thanks

hi guys, i have an epson c65 which i just manually cleaned its inkhead (detached and flushed the head w/ isopropyl alcohol). i was able to declogged the head but when i test print after several inkhead cleaning (built-in) not any prints come out. it seems the printer head isn't sucking any ink. am using CIS btw. i have also check and cleaned the purge pad.
Anyone try this on an Artisan 700 printer.... I know it's not on the list.... All my lights are flashing after using a different brand cartridge.. I've used non OEM cartridges before......
I have an Epson photo stylus 820 I have been using remanufactured black ink cartridges with no problem and my color is low or better yet actually empty and I haven't been able to figure out how to reset it so it doesn't read it as an error I have tried resetting counters and also resetting the cartridge but haven't been able to figure much out
Before it had a yellow yield sign on my main Epson utility and now it's a circle with an X I am also running the SSC software and when I refresh its as error no think but don't know what else to do
I'm paralyzed from the neck down so I am using voice recognition and if there's any mistakes in my spelling and grammar please excuse them thank you all for your time and consideration
The SSC utility will not reset the ink cartridge chips. It will freeze the ink count but not reset the ink count. You will need a chip resetter for that.
I don't care about the color I want to be able to just print and regular black and white that way I can write letters to family and friends being that I'm paralyzed I was thinking about looking for just a regular black printer do you have any recommendations for something simple.
You have to have the color even to print black. Ink jet printers use composite black which is produced from the color ink cartridge. You can't get around it.
Many have tried to work around this. Your best bet is to get a laser printer.
This is only sorta true. Some printers may not have black ink (is this true?). In order to do some black tones, color may be required. Some printers may require that other colors be installed (is this true?). Most computers allow a print setup option that can restrict printing to only black. Perhaps this should be the default option. Perhaps it is not because black is more expensive than color (is this really true since black must use all other colors?) More discussion is needed.
No,only one ink cartridge, black, is required since most computers allow a print setup option that can restrict printing to only black. At least 3 color cartridges are required for multi-color, usually black is the fourth.
That's the thing I have a full black but no color and it's not letting the print I also downloaded and all the driver that allows for all me the black and no color to be used but haven't been able to get it to work on my operating system. I have Epson photo stylist 820 with the old driver that allows for only black or color to be used
And I also have been a software that keeps giving me the warning that I need color Haven't been able to figure it out But it's not a problem I'm looking into getting a ciss with ARc
nodttiurp does not know what they are talking about. If he did your printer would be working. And it is not. You have to have both ink cartridges IN THE PRINTER reguardless of what nodttiurp thinks. You WILL burn out the print head if you could only use one ink cartridge.
I know you're very correct it needs both And yes that is very true common sense is very difficult to come across nowadays lol I was looking everywhere for something very old but they don't make them anymore lolI wasn't sure if I want to get the ciss for my printer but I'm going to go ahead and get it I was only thinking about that because what if something happens to the printer but it's compatible with a few different models so if something happens to this one that was given to me secondhand I'm just going to get another one that will be compatible with my ciss system

In no particular order: 1) Many older "entry level" [read: cheap] printers used the 3 color system described in the thread. They made up a horrendous greanbrownpurple color & called it black. It wasn't. Most newer printers use a 4 or more color system. 1a) Mfrs (stands for manufacturers or m^%$#@*R&*s) found it was more profitable to sell a 4 color printer cheaper, and make up the cost on the replacement ink - $$$$ again. Kodak was one of the first ones to kick butt on lower cost per page inkjets. Seems like one or two others have followed - a trend maybe??
2) THE ONLY only printers that will let you print with ONLY the Black cartridge are/were the ones that use the combo cartridge/printhead or 'hybrid' systems typified by HP, Lexmark and Dell (Made by Lexmark, but juuuuust different enough to p--- off the Pope). 2a) There were some 3 color printers that allowed you to choose black or color by which cartridge you installed - Black or tri-color. ****THE REASON: If you allow any part of the working ink system to dry out or get contaminated, you're bummin'. End of story. You **may** get lucky and be able to save a dried out printhead, but not one clogged by contamination from dust getting into the inlet tube (HELLLOOOO - the reason they tell you not to remove the empty til you have the new one!). Works the same as a kidney stone - pass it & you're fine; don't and it blocks the kidney's outlet tube and your in serious trouble, not to mention it hurts like ----. 2b) This is also the same reason all changeable tank printers (as opposed to printers who use the hybrid printhead & ink combo cartridges) won't let you print ANY color if any one of the 4 (or more) tanks is empty. This is also why your "empty" ink tanks are usually not completely empty - a little reserve to keep the system wet and primed until you replace the cartridge.
Re: Re: Re: Epson Waste Reset Utility - - 2 of 3 by YourWhatHurts (4/20/10 9:35 PM) reply
3) Black only: May be controlled by the computer, but you still have to have ink in ALL of the remaining cartridges!! You still waste color ink in the cleaning process no matter which color(s) you tell it to print. I my experiance, Brothers are one of THE most ink hungry printers. We used to go through about a cartridge a month or so of one color or another even sitting idle! BTW, Brother has had some units whose photo is as good as more expensive printers; key is which ones and the less expensive ones are not rated for heavy use.
4)TIA - You have no idea how small the jet holes are! They are so fine, that even wiping them with the wrong thing (or even a q-tip on some) will clog as oppose to open them. I'm NOT saying you definitely trashed your printhead, just kinda an FYI - it is possible. Side note: The reason Epson printers (most notably the 1280) were so popular for dye sublimation printing (t-shirts, hats, coasters, tiles, coffee mugs, etc) is that they were for the most part, the only non-commercial printers whose printheads would hold up under highly abrasive sublimation inks!
5) My experience with the absorber or waste ink pads has been that many will run after a counter reset until something el$se breaks. NOT ALL, so don't whine at me because it puked on your 15th century graddenza. I have also successfully washed several pads. Your mileage may vary.

6) THIS SECTION APPLIES TO ALL TYPES OF PRINTERS ! ! ! I hear more people bag on their printer for paper jams!! My experience owning and repairing printers has shown that the paper and environmental factors are 95% of the cause jams in otherwise good printers. I found: Use at least 20# paper, don't buy more than you will use in a year, Store it right - FLAT - NOT on edge or end!!! Looks cool in the store that way, but that's for a short time Keep your paper warm and dry - store it in a dry part of the living area of your home - NOT in the laundry room, garage, atic, bathroom(!!) or unheated basement. Fan through a new ream at least once before loading the paper tray and keep what's left covered and clean. Jamming on the last page is almost normal and while not desirable, is something to deal with if the rest of the printer is OK. Keep the printer clean and inside the living area of the building. If you keep it out in the shop next to the brake lathe (messy, iron filings) or in the work area of a dog grooming studio, it ain't gonna be happy - and it's NOT the printer's fault!! Going from -10f over the weekend to +68f by mid-Monday is hell on any electromechanical equipment and the paper too.
Hope this clears up some stuff and levels the playing field a bit................
Hi! Can anybody tell me how do I revive the "Ink Cartridge Replacement" Command under the "Printing Preference\Maintenance"? The words beside its icon is washed out (missing) and I can't replace my cartridges. I'm using an Epson Stylus C90 printer.
Thanks in advance!

I have had several R800's, and had it work by designating a similar SCC model like R1800, or R770 or something like that. I forget which ones actually worked.
Re: problem printing with epson stylus c41sx by dpmlybsk (5/19/10 9:46 AM) reply
hi, i have been using epson stylus c42sx printer for the past six years now. For the past two years or so i am experiencing printing problems which could be solved using the head cleaning utility. But recently a very interesting problem has crept up. The yellow and black are printing fairly well but cyan and magenta don't print. I first tried the head cleaning utility but only managed to use up half of the ink in the cartridges. I have tried every thing from changing the cartridge to cleaning the print heads and the conical needles using the cleaning solvent. More interestingly a newly installed cartridge showed even worse results with the the yellow colour disappearing too. On being replaced by an older one the yellow colour came back. I thought may be it was a bad cartridge and bought another one which showed promising results and i was almost sure that print head was clogged. But the next time I again faced the same problem with another new cartridge I was baffled. As I said I cleaned the head assembly thoroughly and I could even see the cleaning solution coming out of all the nossle pores but still it bore no fruit. I have literally given up on it. In our region there are no genuine EPSON service centers, all there is are a few authorized ones which don't reply to my e-mails neither are the interested in EPSON, they seem more willing to offer their service to other brands. If only I could make those cyan and magenta colours print I would not have been running around for a service person who would do EPSON. All those whom I have contacted don't even have any idea how these printers work, but if it was HP or CANNON they would have done the servicing blind folded. I live in the eastern part of India and EPSON is not doing too well in the markets around this region. So you can understand the deep shit I am in. Any suggestions would be very helpful or else I will have to give up and go for a low cost printer of some popular brands in our region. Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
well, nanachtoronto, You can check at this link http://www.2manuals.com/reset_wip.php I am not sure if the software will work with mac but its worth giving it a try. if you have already done so and it didn't work then don't bother to much about this post.

Re: Re: Re: Epson Waste Reset Utility for artisan 800 by Jjay McSanchez (7/9/10 8:05 PM) reply
Best source I have found for resetting Artisan series printers, it's still BS we have to pay at all to make an undamaged printer work again. Boycott Epson!!!
I too have a customer's Artisan 800. I have tried all the model entries in the service software but none of them work. I have tried holding the buttons (all two of them) while starting up, and while idling. I have tried the CD button in combination with holding various portions of the touch display. I am at a loss. It would appear that special software is needed. A service charge plus the $15 these various people want would likely put the cost of doing this pretty close to replacing the unit. I have had no problems resetting Canons, HPs, Brothers and older Epsons. Apparently they think this is a state secret now and there is no method I can find to reset the count. I have put some feelers out to other techs I know across Canada and will forward the information here if I find a solution. IMHO this problem makes newer Epson printing devices not worth purchasing unless they are disposable (under $100). For people in towns with no Epson service facility the price of shipping the unit would definitely make the repair not worth the cost. I will be recommending my customers avoid Epson. Again IMHO this is a setting that should be available in the customer's menu under maintenance with a warning on the screen that if it is used you may risk ink spillage inside the unit and on the desk. Hopefully I can find a solution and post it back here.
They provide pictures and a link to the Epson resetter software. This is the official Epson solution as you can also get to the same location from the Epson.com site in their FAQ section. Unfortunately once you have jumped through all the hoops and downloaded the resetter, it wants to link to an Epson server and the server appears to be gone so the software gets an error and stops.
This is ridiculous these companies building in obsolescence to their machines. I had thought there were laws against this. This unit is in brand new condition, there's no reason why we should not be able to reset this counter.
Thanks for your help. I emailed Epson and all they would do is tell me if it's still under warranty I could exchange the unit. They were zero help.
I will still be recommending my customers, friends and family stay away from Epson. I still can't believe it's legal for them to basically junk a machine over a $5 absorber.
We did find an Epson resetter. It worked beautifully and it was free. I will get the person who downloaded it to give me the URL and I will post it here. I will leave it up to the individual as to weather or not to use it after they look at it. The instructions are in Indonesian but the screen shots are in English.
please somebody can help what if for epson printer type T1100 ? can the software resetter use for kind of this printer ?? pls help urgent.thankyou very much
Re: Epson Waste Reset Utility by john sabre (8/3/10 9:27 AM) reply
On some Epson printers the software to reset the counter in the waste ink pad is easily available on the internet and through Epson This is not the case with the Epson Artisan 710 printer. Epson will not release it for some reason. Who wants to pay to sent a printer back to Epson when all you need is software to reset the waste ink pad counter. Has anyone who is a programmer tried to modify the software that is available for the Epson Artisan 700 or 800/810 to work on the Epson Artisan 710? Any help would be appreciated. Please don't respond with hit the reset button....it doesn't work.

Thanks, I already checked this one out. I actually bought 1 copy and found out that it cost $9.95 per key and the key is good for one time use only, weather it works or not. I have a bunch of printers that have the waste pad counter needing to be reset so I'm looking for a software to do this where I don't have to pay for every reset. Epson offers this free for most all their printers except the Atrisan 710. If you come up with anything else let me know.
T13 reset adjustment program I see at www.2manuals.com but it is rather expensive and I think only service companies can buy it not end user. So maybe we have to wait.
I have an Epson R260 and haven't used it for a few months. Now when I turn it on it goes through the start routine and then there is a loud grinding noise and red lights flash. Could this just be because things have dried up or is it mechanical? Any suggestions?
I copied this paragraph from the Epson troubleshooting answer page:
Is there anything I can do to continue using my printer? Epson recommends replacing the printer, but if you want to continue using it, Epson recommends having the printer serviced at an Epson Customer Care Center. You may also be able to have the ink pads replaced by an independent service provider and use the Ink Pad Reset Utility to reset the Ink Pad Counter to continue using the printer. Please note that replacement of ink pads is relatively expensive and may not be a good investment for lower cost printers because the printers’ other components also may be near the end of usable life. Epson does not recommend ink pad replacement by users without technical training or resetting the Ink Pad Counter without replacing the ink pads.
Good job that program does exists as they obviously are out to extort money from us. however this message is to help mac users, the only way I have found of making this program work for me on a mac with OSX 10.6 is to install VMware Fusion which is a programme that lets you install another operating system so I then installed windows XP, then installed the Epson Waste Reset Utility (sscserve.exe) onto WinXP, it now has reset my printer and all of its functions so two fingers up high in the sky to Epson.
You must be careful not to over flood the Epson Waste as this will seriously damage your printer beyond repair as thats what the warnings for, there are two flexible tubes that run to the Waste pad that can be join externally to two tubes and then those external tubes run into a bottle which will now be your Waste destination for your printer. This plus the reset programme will eliminate all Epson Waste problems for the rest of your printers life span for the price of Ł3 max.
pls help me...my printer epson t13 always show "ink cartridge cannot be recognized"....its happen because i try use refill cartridge...when i replace it with genuine epson cartridge, still show "ink cartridge cannot be recognized"....all guidance is very very very much appreciated...tq

OMG!! It worked! Thank you, thank you , thank you, rmm149. I can't believe it....I tried so many suggestions on the net..even downloaded SSC Service Utility v4.30, which, apparently, doesn't work with Vista. I was trying to send a few photos off with Christmas cards to the old aunts: 4 of them over 95; they have no access to computers, and are more and more isolated because the "younger ones" don't use snail-mail any more. I'm giving you the details because we all have our personal stories and behind every computer/printer glitch is something/someone who is personally affected. How often we act and don't know the consequences- and so often they are good! All the best for 2011. Joan PS: This is December 2010......so I don't know if the person who posted the solution will get this. I just want to add: the small business that services printers in my town says that the old printers are so much better than the new ones. I am so glad I can keep this Epson 740 going. Happy New Year to all.

It seems to this 68 y.o. that we are not going about the reset issue quite right. First of all epson is just approximately counting pages printed and then after a predetermined amount of guestamated ink usage, are shutting down the printer to prevent a counter top ink spillage issue, or so they say. Have you ever wondered were some of these printers end up with this particular problem. They end up back at epson, where they take them apart, replace the ink pads, then reset the ink/page counter and quickly check all the other issues of the printer and fix if necessary. Then they are sold as refurbished at about 1/3 of their original cost on the epson web site at the clearance site. I have used Epson printers almost exclusively for the last 30+ years. Lets put the issue of printer problems in perspective. If you think it is broken and needs to be fixed don't take it to epson as it will cost more to fix it than to buy a new one. So here's what I do. Take it on as a learning issue. Slip on some gloves. Disconnect the printer by the power cord while the printer head is in motion. This will unlock the printhead so that you can put it where you want to later. Remove the cartridges. Take printer apart (its not that difficult). Check internet for videos to tell you how. Remove ink pads and replace with simular size regular sponge if you like or do what I do instead. Discard used ink pads from inside printer, take hose that pumps discarded ink onto ink pads and run that hose to the outside back corner of the printer through a hole that you carefully drill. Extend hose length if necessary and have it empty into a translucent plastic catchup bottle which is velcroed to side of printer. When printer is in use you will now appreciate how much ink you don't get to use with your given printer and you will no longer have any use for inkpads. Now if necessary use the epson utility to reset the ink counter, and then reassemble your printer. Use either refillable cartridges which have automatic resets for full, or use a CISS (continuous ink supply system) which do the same. I have never ever purchased regular OEM cartridges for my epson printers after I use the ones that come with the printer by doing what I have said previously. Remember, if someone made it, you most likely can take it apart if you use care. Epson uses alot of clips, catches, pressure points, and very few screws to hold there printers together. So don't be afraid to pull a little on various exterior parts to see how they might release of come apart. Good luck with your effort.
F**kin epson sucks!! Got a stylus nx 400... it wastes ink like a crazy Mo Foo.. even when set in the economy mode..it uses all colors even when you print "black Only"-(wasn't there a lawsuit out regarding this issue?)
Cant print in black when the other color cartridges are low..
think im gonna throw this friggin thing off the roof..
can you reset the eeprom using a mac? any link for it...
I've Epson T10 it stops on the left side and green light blinks for almost one minute and then it goes back on the right side and red light on with the message on computer no ink cartridges
How can I thank you - you saved me some nice cash. I was about to throw my epson away as I could not use it due to service error - I used the http://inkjetprinterhelp.us/epsonSSC.html and it worked perfectly
Printer Model – R230 Waste Ink Pad Counter Reseted to 0 (Zero) successfully. After Restarting the printer it is blinking both the Red lights on both left buttons. On Clicking get status – it is showing Fatal Error
Has anyone else tried gwooster's solution. We are pretty handy with these things and cannot use the printer anyway, so might as well go ahead and perform the delicate operation. Ordered a new Canon printer as replacement. Can't get over throwing away $300 machine slightly over the warrantee expiration. Has document feeding issues as well, but always good to have a spare, not to mention all the *&%$ cartridges left over, as always had to keep replacements on hand for this ink pig.
was asking where I could download ssc service utility for my epson stylus photo tx650? It keeps warning me of " end of service and should replace ink pads". Thanks.
How do I reset the chip for the printer cartridges on this model. I was able to get some refillable cartridges that are full of ink but It says they are empty/incompatible. The company tells me to keep trying to reset them with the buttons.
hello can I just jump in here and ask for help in taking some action that will help me to get my Epson Stylus nx400 to keep printing even though it says I must replace the black cartridge first (there is plenty of black ink left) ?? : )

Hi I have an Epsom Stylus Photo RX425 printer which has come up with all the lights flashing and an 'E'. I have tried resetting the counters with the various programs which is says it has done. I still have the same problem although my ink pads are soaked I have got a lot of it out over the last 3 days by putting kitchen roll on the pads which have come out soaked in ink. I opened the trap door at the back but there is nothing in the tube and nothing coming out of the tube.
I borrowed my granddaughter's printer which is exactly the same as mine and after doing the nozzle test 4 times the same thing has happened to her's. Her's hasn't been used for over a year and her ink pads are bone dry. I have done the reset counters on it and the problem is still there.
What else can I try, I don't want to buy a new one as i've just brought a bulk order of cartridges and i'm being brought a wireless one for Christmas.
Epson Stylus Color 860 after head cleaning and cartridge replacment printed a couple of sheets. Next day I got the maintenance request via 4 flashing diodes. Cleaned the pads but regardless of if I try to reset on the panel or using the SSC utility I can't reset and SSC doesn't find the printer. I removed the printer but when I tred to reinstall it the computer doesn't find it.So it is still blinking and neither the SSC utility or my computer sees it.
Hi I'm sorry for my English bad. My printer cartridge epson printer is set T0711-T0712-T0713-T0714 sx610fw Adjustment program resetter and ink pad, but the program is examining the other settings to cry, I accidentally changed. Does not recognize my printer cartridges printer cartridge epson TX610Fw 101-102-103-104 was set. How do I restore the settings again sx610fw epson. Would you please help me. Epson SX610FW How can I restore the settings.
when the ink pads life ends you can just reset the waste ink counter by SSCLG or InkReset or WIC Reset utilities. You can not replace waste ink pads about first 2-3 times - waste ink pads can absorb inks few resets. Also you can connect the waste ink tube to the outside bottle.
Hi I have an Epson Stylus Photo Rx530 - for some reason it acts as if it is printing and no ink comes out on the paper. The cartridges are full and I have cleaned the print head, checked print nozzles (nothing prints), aligned print head (nothing prints)I am using PROCOLOR Compatible Cartridges. Help what else can I do?
Schultzy, most likely either the printhead is not firing electronically or the pump is not pulling ink throught the printhead. Put some water on the cap\slit where the carriage rests on the right side of the printer. Run a cleaning cycle and see whether the water has been sucked away. If not, the pump is failing\clogged. Hope this helps.
Some users will experience the error on their printer where it stops printing and all the lights start flashing. Different printer models may have different descriptions of this error.
I have an Epson B1100 running with snow leopard on a mac.
Yesterday I rec'd a msg saying my ink pad needed changing and already today I have one saying I need a service and the printer now has flashing alternate paper and ink lights.
Is the ink pad the narrow foam pad that runs the width of the printer? If so it's completely black, but it does still print ok (or rather did). Does it really need a service or can I unlock it with a code?
If so, where can I buy a code for mac and will it work with a CIS?
i have the epson stylus photo rx425 and the ink s all full but the ink button keeps flashing and nothing will print i have been told that i need to reset it but i dont know how

New to this so please be patient. Trying to find a reset for the waste ink counter on an Epson 9400DX. Have read a lot, but cannot find anything for this printer. The SSC utility does not include it in their list. Any ideas?
I've got an Epson NX125 Printer/Scanner/Copier which registers a brand new black ink cartridge as empty and refuses to print anything, both the Power and Ink Leds are flashing, removing and replacing the ink cartridge fails to fix the problem, the printer is less than a year old and I'm considering junking it, I could use my HP P1005 printer, but it needs a cartridge refill which will set me back about Au$75.00, is there any way to fix my NX125 printer so that it registers the black ink cartridge as full so I can use it to print again?, all help much appreciated.
Cheers, but I've managed to sort out the trouble with my NX125 Printer, turns out that what I thought was a brand-new full black ink cartridge, was actually an empty one, which is strange, because I distinctly remember removing it from it's plastic vacuum packaging and putting it in my printer, but my printer was telling me it was empty...

Help I have epson r295 and Resetter270ecc.exe softwere when i try to reset ink by ( waste ink pad counter )I read this message " communication error! Error code :2100012c " i can,t connect with printer. I need help thanks.
eric82, the in counter reset does not affect the amount of ink reported to be in the cartridges. It resets the waste ink counter which is related to the waste ink pads. From what you describe you may have an empty black cartridge. Replace the cartridge and see what happens. Hope this helps.
