Epson 1280 printing problems

Epson 1280 printing problems by jlperdue (1/19/04 8:23 PM) reply + / -
Hello... first time to this forum. My wife is angry that our Epson 1280 continually prints with horizontal bands marring an otherwise beautiful print. I have cleaned the heads via the printers utility, several times. This doesn't help. I think the jets must be clogged, maybe. I have heard this is a common problem with Epson printers since they are part of the printer, not the ink cartridges.

Any ideas on how I can make this problem go away and make my wife smile again so she won't threat to throw my expensive printer out the door?

Thanks,
Jack

You might want to update your printer drivers just to ensure that you have the most up to date drivers. Check to see if you have photo enhance selected or automatic selected. If MicroWeave is off, turn this feature on. If High Speed is on, turn it off.

You can perform a nozzle check to see if there are any lines or gaps on the page or print a page from this link
http://www.epsonhelp.web1000.com/color.html.

If you need to clean the print head you can get a print head cleaning kit from here http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/kea0.html and if you want to see what is involved in cleaning a print head try this link http://www.epsonhelp.web1000.com/printhead.html

I hope this helps.

Wes.

Wes, thanks for the quick response. I will look at the solutions you suggested. The kit sounds like the way to go. Again, many thanks. ~Jack
