epson 1280 problem by jerry (1/16/04 7:12 PM) reply + / -
i have a strange problem with my epson 1280 that is just plain frustrating. i've owned 3 epson 1280 printers and have had to replace all due to various communication issues in the past. this time, instead of a communication error half way thru a sheet, the printer will wait until a page finishes, then it will stop altogether. to fix the problem, i have to pause the remaining pages in the queue and restart the p.c. this usually fixes the problem. it seems to me that the last bit of communication between the primter and the p.c., telling it that the page is done, gets lost. sometimes the page doesn't get removed from the queue even though the page has printed. i then will have to manually delete the page from the queue and resume the remaining pages.
i really like the 1280, i set it up to run 10-20 pages at a time, but i can't baby-sit it and restart it every few pages. i'm sitting here right now waiting to see if the next page will print or not. anybody have an idea?
Jerry

Jerry: Most communication problems and issues are not caused by the printer, because they simply receive that DATA from the Computer and process it. Its always possible that the Logic Board portion of the Main Board is failing, but that is unusual, especially on three 1280's. I may see one printer causing actual communication problems/failures, out of every 40 or 50 cases, but its rare. I know of no problem on the "1280" series, but you can always try e-mailing Epson Technical Support for possible help, at http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCooki e=yes&infoType=Email&oid=14374&prodoid=11473&menuSpec=15 ...Denny Conway
