Epson Stylus C82 by jeff (12/18/03 6:46 AM) reply + / -
I bought the Epson cleaning solution from this site and the nozzles are still clogged. Is there a way to take the printer head out and clean it? I thought it was my cartridges, so I bought a new set, but it still wont print.

Jeff: You would probably need a Service Manual to be able to correctly remove and reinstall the Printhead Assembly. I never remove a printhead assy for cleaning, only for replacement, because they are easily damaged and its also easy to get the Factory Settings off. If you do a general search on the "fixyourownprinter.com" printer repair site, under "C82" Printers, you can read about other peoples experiences, their advise and what they have tried, sometimes successfully. You would see this type of problem seems to be a fairly common experience on the "C80"/"C82" series printers and that you were not alone in your problem. There's no way for me to really know whats wrong with your printer and it's even possible that you may have a bad "Printhead Assembly", or a failing "Main Board Assembly", especially as you have already tried the "Printhead Cleaning Kit" and especially if the printhead are not actually clogged. You have done as much as you can really do without a Service Manual and even then I don't know that would help you that much. Unfortunatly a new set of printheads costs around $120.00 =/- and a main board is probably even more. Normally if either one is bad, its not economical to repair, as you can buy a new printer cheeper...Denny Conway
