 | Re: hp psc 2210xi cleaning underside of glass by Tom (1/27/04 11:13 AM) reply | + / - | I just stumbled across this site and this post. I don't know if you still need this but I had to do this very same maintenance on my 2210xi.
The top frame that holds the glass is held on by 3 screws. You'll need a Torx T-15 screwdriver to remove them. One is really obvious. It's on the left hand side, at the back edge. The other two screws are under the silver plastic plate that frames the keypad and the LCD display.
Here's what you do:
1) remove the flip top lid by pulling it gently upwards. It should snap out.
2) Remove the silver plastic keypad cover that frames the buttons. It's the one that has the "hp psc 2210xi all-in-one" printed on it. Remove it by inserting a small screwdriver about an inch down from the upper right hand corner (next to where it says "Photo Card") and prying it up gently. This helps to loosen a retaining tab. There's another retaining tab about 2-1/2 inches below this one. Work the keypad cover loose.
3) With the keypad cover off, you'll see a small square hole just below the black print button. Push a small screwdriver down into this hole. You'll feel a little springy resistance from another plastic retaining tab. While gently holding the tab down, slide the silver keypad/display assembly toward the front of the printer. It should slide forward easily. Don't move it so far that you damage the flex circuit cable that's attached though. Take note of the two screws we're looking for. One is at the right rear and one is at the front.
4) Remove the three screws (back left, back right and front right). Lift the plastic top frame off starting from the back. There are two retaining tabs along the front edge (on the left and in the center). With very little effort, you should be able to get past these.
5) The glass should be accessible now.
Good luck.

I'm thinking of buying one of these printers CHEAP because the glass is broken. Will the procedure given for getting to the glass to clean it allow me to get to the glass to replace it?? Has anyone replaced the glass in one of these printers. Easy?? Difficult?? Good idea or not??

The snowbank was looking like a good place to put my printer!!! I've been on the phone with HP help, ( his goal was to send me a more expensive different one) re-installed the printer numerous times over the last few months.............eventually it would work, but the fog on the inside of the window was never mentioned as the culprit to my problems...............it sounded like something was stuck, but being a multi-talented printer, I didn't know what.....anyway, took me a bit to get the top off, screws undone, and the glass cleaned, and Low and Behold, It works fine!!!!!!!!!!!!The re-install, and the resetting the settings had worked in the past, but this clean glass thing should take care of it for some time to come................Curious: how did the inside get foggy/dirty in the first place/??? thanks for your help.........vandeer3
