I am having trouble with the above printer, getting "Clean Sensor" message on the display. I have followed the manual info. that says the "Engine Sensor" is dirty, It tells me to remove the waste toner cart. and turn the large green lever CCW and return to original position, re-install toner waste cart. and close front cover to clear error. The error will not clear!! What can I do now, where abouts is the "engine sensor"? Is it part of the transfer belt unit? Please can someone help. Many thanks,
Mazz: The "Epson AcuLaser Color 2000" was specially made for Latin America and I've never seen one and of course, don't have a reason to even have a Service Manual. I did look up the "Clean Sensor" message, which is listed as Service Call Error Status Code #4228, which says: "The sensor window for the printer window engine adjustment is soiled. The printer will recover from the error when the detection of soiling in the printer head filter is cancelled. Open the front cover, clean the printer head filter and close the cover. Then the error will disappear, thus the pop-up display of the Epson Ststus Monitor will disappear."...I hope this helps, because thats all that was listed. If not I hope somebody that is actually framiliar with your printer, replies back to you with more information. If you cannot actually figure out what service is required, you may have to try an order a Service Manual, if you can find one available...Good Luck! Denny Conway

Many thanks Denny, I'm not too sure where the printer head filter is though. I'll check it out again tomorrow and see what I can do. You've given me more of a clue than I had before.
Mazz: I don't know if this will help or not, but looking at a different Epson Model, the "Printer Head Filter" was located in the front, near the bottom of the Photo Conductor Unit. It looked like it was almost directly below what appeared to be a round knob in the center area of that Photo Conductor Unit, but down lower, again more towards the bottom area. Unfortunatly, I have no idea what it actually looks like, because the reference I looked at was very vague and only basically showed the approximate area. Maybe using your "Users Manual/Owners Manual" as a reference, you can figure it out...Again, Good Luck! Denny Conway
Re: Epson Aculaser c2000 by Mazz (10/9/03 11:34 PM) reply
Found it, apparently its a long green piece of plastic with a piece of glass in it. I'd aready cleaned it before and it didn't make much difference, but I'll have a further look around that area anyway. Thanks again Denny ;o)
Mazz: This may not be of much use to you, but I ran across a REPLACEMENT SCHEDULE for the Print Head Filter on your C2000 and the related parts that are supposed to be replaced at the same time. I have no way of really knowing on your particular printer, but on most of the Epson Laser Printers, once the Service Error Code comes up, you need to actually replace the part in question and then reset the code...Anyway, for MONOCHROME [black only]: continuous printing = 30,000 sheets and 1-sheet printing = 10,000 sheets; for COLOR: continuous printing = 7,500 sheets and 1-sheet printing = 5,000 sheets...Epson says that you are supposed to replace the "OPC DRUM KIT" if you near or have passed those sheet counts. The kit includes: OPC Unit, Fusing Oil Roller, Waste Toner Box and Print Head Filter. According to Epson, you should replace all four parts at the same time. What I don't really know, is if you have to actually replace the Print Head Filter, before you can actually clear the error code. If you check your print counters, you will at least know if you are close or over the replacement schedule for that filter. If you are and cleaning does not correct the error code, then its possible that you may have to replace the part first. Hopefully your printer will then reset correctly, or there may be a special reset procedure involved. Thats the unknown factor: If there is actually a special reset procedure involved, you may need to get a Service Manual or even contact Epson Company to find out how to do it...Again, Good Luck! denny Conway

Just got this e-mail from Epson: The clean sensor error refers to a problem with the sensor on the transfer belt (TB). You can try removing the TB, turn it upside down and the clean the sensor that looks like "two cats eyes" with a soft cloth. This is located on the underside of the TB in the middle of the unit.
I found the sensor and saw that it has a very small piece of protective film over it, on this film from within the sensor there was a covering of Toner dust. I removed the film cleaned the toner off and blew out any further toner dust that may be within the sensors and replaced everything back. It is no-longer coming up with "Clean Sensor"
The problem now is that it says "Service Req. E020" what does this mean and how do I overcome it??
Mazz: Hopefully you are also e-mailing Epson again, because they can give you more information than I am able too. Remember that I don't even have a Service Manual to refer to, let alone any experience with your printer. Just knowing what that Service Error is, may not always be that much help, I'm sorry to say...Anyway, the "E" in your new "Service Req. E020" message, stands for an ENGINE RELATED SERVICE CALL ERROR MESSAGE and the "020" is actually a SECOND TRANSFER ROLLER GAP CONTROL MALFUNCTION. Not actually knowing, I would guess your new code is related to the Transfer Belt Assembly that you just removed, cleaned and reinstalled. The strange thing is that the AcuLaser C1000 & C2000 do not require any adjustment on Hardware, according to Epson. I'm assuming that the "second transfer roller gap control malfunction" is a preset adjustment at the factory on the Transfer Belt Assembly and not normally changed in the field, but of course thats just an educated guess at best...Good Luck! Thanks Denny, I have e-mailed Epson again. If, as you say it's down to the transfer belt assembly it may be just time to re-invest in a new one!!! I'll keep this thread updated when I get an answer.

Keith: As the "Epson AcuLaser C2000" was made for Latin America, there's not much help that I can give you. I can tell you that the "E" = Engine Related Service Call Error Message and the "034" = Multiple Manual Feeder Pusher Malfunction. Its possible that simply removing the paper in the Manual Feeder and clearing or resetting the error condition, may correct your problem. You may need to refer to your "Users Manual/Owners Manual" for reference in that area. Try rearranging the paper properly on the feeder tray and then try running them thru again. If the error does not clear or comes back, you may have an actual HARDWARE PROBLEM [parts problem: such as a bad/failing "Solenoid", "One-Way Clutch Gear" or even a board problem ["PWB-A"]. Sorry, no way for me know and I'm not framilar with those models anyway. At least you know what the Error Code is and the area that it refers to. Hello I am having a problem with a message in the display when booting the printer. This message "Replace Oil Roll" appears. But I hav ereplaced the the old roll with two new ones already, an d th emessage won't disappear. How do I come around this problem? Are there any buttons to be pushed to get into the maintainance menu where this problem ca be solved? Regards, Brynjulf Bjørkeng
Brynjulf: There are two different Service Error Codes related to the Oil Roller. Code #2012 = oil roller warning status and code #4030 replace oil roller message. On either error code, once you open the cover-A and install a new fuser oil roller, you then close cover-A and the error is normally cancelled automatically. If the oil roller is not set correctly, it may not reset the error code/condition. As the "Epson AcuLaser C2000" was made for Latin America, there's not much help that I can really give you, because I have never seen or worked on that type of printer. I hope that someone that is framiliar with the "C2000", may be able to help you further. If not, you might try e-mailing Epson Technical Support for help with your problem. Boris: Because the Epson AcuLaser Color 2000 was made for Latin America, there's not much information that I can give you concerning your Service Error Condition. All I can tell you is that the Service Request error #C1120 is a Controller Related Service Call Error Message for "Rom Check Sum Error [bits out][program]". You may need to try and locate a Service Manual on-line, that you can download for in-depth troubleshooting and possible disassembly and servicing. Because I'm not framiliar with the C2000, let alone ever seen one, there's not much else I can tell you about your problem. All i did in the end was to pull the leaver up and down slowly hoping it wud do a better job of cleaning, it certainly seemed too becoz i just fixed it

Re: Epson Aculaser c2000 by george (2/24/04 4:06 PM) reply
When I saw the problem (E023)there was also a grinding noise. It was actualy due to one of the toner cartrige covers hanging off. This was stopping the toner carosel turning. I now only have a "clean sensor" error, which the handbook tells me to work the big lever. I need to go back and try that, also give it a good clean. If that doesn't work I may ask again.

Well, a complex problem appeared. Maybe some one can direct me right way.
I have a local network of 5 machines. 3 Of them are Win-98, 1 is Win-ME, and 1 is XP Pro. C-2000 is connected via Parallel port to a machine with Win-98. All machines but XP Pro can print despite there is always a mistake about "connection error" appear on all machines but that one to which C-2000 connected. This is the first problem. How to resolve it?
The second problem. I cannot force XP Pro machine to print on that printer via the network. I installed right drivers (for Win-2000/XP) and it prints test page from WinXP. But nothing else can be printed. When I try to call Properties from printer spool I see a text on lower bar of its window "access denied". What to do?

JJ: I'm definatly not much help on the AcuLaser C2000 or any of the other models that were made by Epson and sold in Latin America or the UK, but I believe I've made that clear in previous replys on this message board. As I am located in the USA and have never seen those models and have limited resources for help from Epson Company on those models, there's only so much help I can actually give. By letting Boombaras know that this was actually a Printer Repair Site and in case no one was able to really help him, he could then always seek help for his possible Computer or Network problems, from a different source, if he wanted to. Sometimes there are people who know enough about Computer problems and Network problems, that they will post a solution, but not always. Its been two weeks and no one has posted any help for Boombaras. Hopefully he's already sought help and possibly received help from a different source or repair site. You are right, sometimes I'm not that much help and there's probably a lot of people that know more than I do, but at least I try to help when I can...Denny Conway

Hi everbody, for those who have error msg show as "clean sensor" or "E022", you have to change the transfer as it may seem that the transfer belt is faulty.
For Boombaras, as for the first question. You have to check on the win98 on the printer properties as to set the printer to allow for sharing printer monitor. And for the second question, you have to set your printer IP address in order to let the pc to communicate with the printer.
Hope that this may help those who have problems on this machine.

I have a techical sevice manual for the epson aculaser c8500 and altho it has a lovely list of all the problems which the led desplay can inform me of and how to sort them out, it doesnt, anywhere, have a list of any type of error "code". Eg. e525 i have discovered is an "Irregular Density" error code. so now i can see how to fix it, but my question is... How can i work out the meaning of the codes? i realise that mr conway has repeadedly told us all that "E" is for engine service error, but is there any where where i can get a list of what the numbers relate to in my service manual? maybe i am being stupid, but i have read through most of the manual twice and i can not find anything explaining how to work out these codes.
Hi all, i was having a problem with all printouts coming out creased, i tried reseating all the components, this did not help, then i got a paper jam, i cleared that and it has now come up with E008, any ideas please. i have tried to download the service manuals as linked on this site, but the Epson 1 has been removed and the others don't link
many thanks
Re: Epson Aculaser c2000 by Paul-UK (12/6/07 9:42 AM) reply
E008 is listed as main motor malfunction. Check there is no paper left in the printer from your jam, other than that the manual states to replace the MCU board.
Cheers Paul, even though the jam was C1 i did find a small piece of paper that had been torn stuck near transferbelt. that cleared the code but i am still getting creased printouts (concertina type creases) any ideas?
thanx
Re: Epson Aculaser c2000 by Paul-UK (12/7/07 10:28 AM) reply
Its just a guess but these machines have a problem with the solenoids on the registration rollers, if this is where your jams are happening then this could cause them. The solenoids have a small piece of rubber on them which either degrades or just falls off, stopping the solenoid from working properly. Replacing the rubber and cleaning out the clutches they control usually solves the problem.
They can be a little difficult to get to as they are located behind the MCU board, but if you search on the forum i think this has been discussed at length in the past.
