CX5200 not printing

CX5200 not printing by Pam (10/1/03 7:26 PM) reply + / -
Unfortunately I ran out of black ink in the printer about 1 week ago. I took out the cartridge and shook it and put it back in...no luck. I left it and bought a new cartridge. (the other 3 colors are about 20%..) It won't print the black or any other color other than pink. I have done all the maintenance suggestions, but they all come up ok. When I tried to print a photo (first thing after installing cartridge) it came out pink. HELP!

Pam: The "CX5200" is a fairly new model thru Epson and is probably still covered under origional factory warranty. Check your purchase date and warranty and see if your printer is still under its warranty. If it is, then you can call Epson Technical Support Department at 1-562-276-1300 and talk to a technician at no charge, who's trained on your particular model. The tech may be able to help you with your problem. Even as an "Epson Authorized Service Dealer", Epson will not allow its dealers to work on a"CX5200" that is under warranty. That model is so new, that I have not even seen one yet, so I'm not framiliar with it at all...I can tell you that its quite possible that when you reinstalled the old cartridge that you previously removed, its a good chance that it messed up the printers internal settings and counters. Thats why Epson says to install a NEW Epson Ink Cartridge anytime you renove a used cartridge. Also if you happened to install a Non-Epson Ink Cartridge that was the wrong ink and it could have caused possible problems in your printer. Epsons use a completely different printhead inking system than most other brands of printers and correct Epson ink formulation is VITAL. Those printheads are one of the reasons that the Epson Printers make such quality color prints. Printer manufacters do not make available their ink formulation and in most cases, the formulation is patented. Any difference in the ink formulation can clog the small printhead nozzles or damage other critical components. Epson has many different formulas of just its black ink, for all the different models of ink jet style printers....Good Luck! Denny Conway

Did you found a solution for this? It seems that I have the same problem...
