Leaking HP Officejet G85

Leaking HP Officejet G85 by Al Iglesias (7/18/03 7:52 AM) reply + / -
Hello all:

This morning we noticed a significant leak on the bottom of our OfficeJet G85. We took both cartidges out and there is still leaking on the bottom. Possible residue but real messy. Anyone know how to fix this problem?? should I let it dry, replace the cartidges and see what happens or get an HP authorized person here??
Thanks,
Al in Tampa

Al: By "LEAK", do you mean ink actually leaking out the bottom of your ALL-IN-ONE UNIT, onto the counter/desk/table that its setting on? If so, then you have a problem that definatly needs attention. However the costs involved [trip charge + labor per hour] to have a technician come to your business or home may not be economical. The prices of new units are relatively low, compared to the costs to sometimes repair them...If the leak/residue is on the inside, in the bottom far right corner, then that is fairly normal. That area is the SERVICE STATION ASSEMBLY that the excess ink from normal print jobs and during the cleaning process, empties into and onto a Waste Ink Pad lying at the bottom. Eventually it will fill up and usually cause some copy quality problems or noise problems. You can either have preventative maintenance done, or wait until it starts causing an actual problem. Its your money...Denny Conway

Thanks for your feedback Denny, it is leaking onto the counter/desk/table and as we were moving the office jet earlier it has residue leaks on the front section. It is a rather large machine and we will have to weigh the service cost vs a new one. Thanks, Al
