Re: Epson service utility program by hpwizard (12/13/05 4:49 PM)
First of all, I'd like to say to all the above posts, WHY can't you put in a name instead of all of you being "Anonymous"??? How are we supposed to know who the question is from? Or even which model you are talking about? Ray's post is 2 years old & he has probably moved on to better things. The C40 question is probably waste ink counter, search this in the search facility. You will find many posts & solutions. The 1270 & 820 question, "fix procedures" for what problem? Look Peeps! We do need more info from you to be able to help! It's not a lot to ask, we don't charge for this after all. & as for "first of all,i'll would like to say thank's to u.i need the program,please...." Cheese & Rice!!! SORRY!!! BAD Day!!!!!!!!!! Re: Epson service utility program by wyatt (12/13/05 4:59 PM)
Why is it that people can't read, can't follow simple instructions, etc., etc., etc.? The original post states "please email me". It doesn't say post here and I'll make sure that I monitor it 2 years later. There really should be some sort of testing program before someone is allowed to buy a computer. I speak out of frustration because it's my site. It's been dumbed down and simplified so an 8 year old could use it. I think so many people post anonymously because they are embarrased at their poor literacy skills. Just read the posts. They couldn't all be 8 year olds or people who speak a foreign language. Sheeeesh! I think I'll just delete all the posts and leave the original. I wonder how many people have actually been intelligent enough to email him.
OK, it's 13 months later and I have just deleted over 300 "I'm anonymous and I'm not going to give you my email address because I'm either intellectually challenged or afraid I'll get spam, so please send me the program". I did leave the best one intact down near the bottom of this thread. Duh! Is it possible for there to be that many clueless people who actually stumbled on this site? God knows how they figure these things out!
Re: Epson service utility program by hpwizard (12/21/05 3:48 AM)
@Edwin and all seekers of Epson SSC Utility program
I'm a new poster from the UK running a C84. If you spend a few minutes reading the Epson related posts around here, you'll find literally dozens of links to the stuff you need. I guess the mods on here get tired of reposting the same information time and time again. Understandable, eh.
One observation I've made is that the SSC Utility doesn't work too well with current Epson cart chips. They appear to revert back to 'Empty' almost immediately after resetting and 'freezing' them. You'll understand this term when you've installed the software and read the instructions (highly recommended even though some things don't work). I've tried using Epson chips on compatible carts to see if they differ and there's no doubt that they do.
Compatible cart chips freeze OK and I've run them daily for weeks without getting any empty warnings. Maybe Epson are reacting to popular use of SSC?
Don't even attempt to refill current Epson carts, it's not worth the hassle and I personally doubt it's even possible.
Compatible carts can and should be refilled without removing them from the printer. This is the ideal way (other than a CIS sytem) because you don't have to go through Epson's stupid wasting ink routine. Using a *very* fine hyperdermic needle, inject straight through the rubber bung under the label. You need to keep everything airtight, so the bung acts as a septum. Inject ink *very* slowly so the displaced air bleeds from the normal vent hole. Stop when ink bubbles out. Slow job, so if you've got little patience, buy more carts.
Don't allow cart to run dry before filling or you lose the hydraulic bridging. Refill every two dozen sheets or so. Don't rely on any SSC chip readings, they're meaningless. Unfortunately the Epson stupid routine is necessary to restart empty cart refills. This method definitely works very well for a dozen refills or so. After that the rubber septum starts to get ragged and air leaks in. That's the worst thing. Ink will just drain out the printhead overnite.
As for Epsons in general and those using Durabrite ink in particular I have one very simple tip. DON'T switch off the printer at any time unless you really have to. Rebooting the printer uses more ink than a dozen A4 letters. It's plain rediculous why these machines have to bleed one or two mls of ink at startup. They only have around eight to ten mls to start with. This advice is also good for any other carts.
Another tip which I intend to try if I ever buy a new Epson. Don't install the Durabrite carts in the first place! Flog 'em on eBay! Install dye based compatibles if you wan't your printer to last more than a few months. Durabrite pigmented inks are resin coated and it dries rock solid in an unused print head. also, the feed nozzels in the carriage have very tiny holes around the point which punctures the cart seal. These holes clog every time an empty Epson cart is left for a few weeks. Then what? I've seen the unblocker stuff sold by FixYourOwnPrinter.com and have ordered a pack from them.
I really hope this stuff really does dissolve dried Durabrite 'cos nothing else will. (I'm an industrial chemist by profession. Now retired so unfortunately I can no longer put my hands on specialty solvents). I'd like know what the magic solvent is? Not alcohol it says, so that eliminates ethanol and isopropanol - the latter being the co-solvent in standard cart flush. Maybe I'll recognise the smell? Hope so.
That's my ten cents for now.
Cheers,
WaveGuide
Re: Epson service utility program by Anonymous (4/21/06 12:02 PM)
Does anyone have the epson service utility for a 1290 for Mac (if it exists) as I tried running a windows version from Virtual PC and I'm not sure if the software is a dud or it just doesn't work in Virtual PC (Win 98). Has anyone else got it to work with Virtual PC?
Also does anyone have diagrams for getting access to the ink waste tray or whatever its called as I think this is my problem (both lights flash independent of each other after starting up).
Re: Epson service utility program (R200) by Brainfire (5/30/06 10:46 AM)
I've got the service utility for my R200, but today my printer is showing four of my inks as empty, and I know that they are nearly full. Does anyone know how to use this software to reset the ink levels as the printer now won't print due to it thinking it's out of four inks!
TIA
Re: Epson service utility program by gianpi (6/5/06 3:33 PM)
Yo Daz,HELP I have the epsom stylus photo r200 and the ink nozzels appear to ave been blocked well certain that the yellow aint comming through and so everyone in the photos i print are getting blue(bit like me) Would your device/help be of any good to me, like its my thougt on the subject, but having just had some very hot weather could this have been a reason for blocked nozzel (if indeed thats what it is)Someone told me back along that i ought to switch the thing off when not in use, which is best on or off? This is the second printer that this has done me in this way, so it would be great to find away around the problem.
Re: Epson service utility program by nospestylus (6/16/06 1:03 PM)
TonyW, both of those programs appear to be the same. Lots of people sell the SSC utility. You might as well just download the SSC utility from the SSC site.
I hope this helps,
Wes.
Re: Epson service utility program by pcorcoran1 (6/22/06 8:22 AM)
No one makes anything for the mac. It's a pc world. So with all the pc's out there it should not be too hard to find one to use to reset the protection counter.
Re: Epson service utility program by joshuaplus (8/11/06 10:43 AM)
Download the program. To reset, right click on your printer icon on the tray (original printer icon will now have a small colored triangle on top right corner). Go to Extra and click on Soft Reset, that's all (it worked for my C63).
Re: Epson service utility program by Anonymous (9/18/06 11:14 AM)
I dont understand why people are asking for the tool to be mailed when the download site is mentioned so many times. I would mirror the tool in a new website I am developing related to printer consumables but I checked the project site and it says illegal to mirror. So I can't mirror it. People just go and download it rather than ask for it to be sent by email.
Re: Epson service utility program by hpwizard (9/18/06 2:05 PM)
The problem is people are too LAZY &/or STUPID to read the whole thread. If they bother to search & click on a result, it takes them to the post most relevant to their search. However if they bother to scroll up or down they may very well find the answer they have been looking for! What's the bet somebody will post under this post saying, "parts inside my printer need servicing..." It's not rocket science is it? Have a nice day! Dazz UK

Re: Epson service utility program by Jim McStay (9/25/06 5:41 AM)
I just used the link that I was given earlier and after a few reboots of both computer + printer, it recognised it as a c45, and reset the counter perfect!!
Its printing like a dream
Hope this helps someone, and cheers for the help I recieved!!
Heres the link that was gave to me for the program, i used the settings for the c45 to reset a c48 printer (epson)
Your Printer need resetting because it was use a lot of time; so that will have to service before you can reset it, ink is build up inside of your printer! that why EPSON wants the printer to be reset, "this reset message or error if you may say is to indicate you that your printer need seriving then after you can reset and calibrate it"
if you need the resetter program that EPSON made I can email it for you! but there is one that I don't have and if anyone have it, can plz get a copy! that is R220 that I need...
Re: Epson service utility program by Anonymous (10/13/06 1:46 PM)
If you are using Durabrite ink or anything other than formulated Euroinks forget it if your heads are clogged - nothing will unclog them not even the old hot ammonium trick!!!!

Re: Epson service utility program by PizzaGuy (10/27/2006 2:17 PM) reply + / - Ok... now that I am blind from reading. Noone has answered my question. BackStory: I've had my Epson Stylus Photo R220 model B261A, for nine months but only turned on for three months. I now have a "Service Required" window that says that "PARTS" inside the printer are at the end of their service life. (three months seems short to me) Do I need to send it in for repair? since they only run around $100 anyway, should I just trash it? Is that how printers are designed now? If it is just an ink overflow tray, where can I get the part? Epson has been "NO" help. Six emails and one frustrating phone call and they act like they don't understand what I'm asking. I just want the printer to go back to printing (why I bought it). Question: "What do I do to fix the SERVICE REQUIRED problem"????
yes I downloaded the "sscserve.exe" program. what about the "Parts" that are at the end of their life??? I'm not one who is confortable driving on bald tires.

Re:Epson CX4600 Error - flashing lights by r knoblich (11/10/06 3:06 PM)
ALL lights are flashing, was working when shut down, wouldn't work when restarted. Have tried everything per Epson. Hate to give up on this because of a large supply of ink cartridges (big mistake). Anyone out there that can give me a clue to start printing, resetting, etc. Your advice will be greatly appreciated. Yes, the warranties expired. thanks.

Re: Epson service utility program R220 by Stuart Smith (11/18/06 9:07 AM)
Here is how to cure the 'parts nearing the end of their service life' problem.
1. download the utility from http://inkjetprinterhelp.us/epsonSSC.html 2. run it. 3. look at bottom of screen on toolbar, you will see a smalll printer icon with a triangle bar top right hand corner. 4. right click on this. 5. Left click on protection counters 6. left click on reset protection counter. 7. reboot your computer.
Note: you chould really replace the waste ink pad too but as yetr I have not found out how to do this.

Epson service utility not working on VPC7 by Anonymous (11/19/06 1:35 AM)
I too have noticed that the current version of the Epson Service Utility (3.61.exe), does not run using Virtual PC 7.
I have used the Epson Service Utility on an actual PC, running windows 98, and it worked great. Now I get Virtual PC7, with the hopes of being able to run this Epson Resetting Utility, and it doesn't work.
The developers of the Epson Service Utility have got to figure out how to make it run on Virtual PC7. Many Mac users would benefit greatly.
I would be interested to also know if any users of Virtual PC7 Mac have got the Epson Service Utility (3.61.exe) to work.
After it is installed I also notice it can not be removed from Virtual PC7 by any means!

Re: Epson service utility program by Anonymous (12/26/06 7:10 AM)
Hi Ray, I wonder if you can help. I have an Epson R230 and have been using a Cis system. It has been working great but the other day it just spat the dummy and all lights started to flash with a screen message saying that parts are near to the end of there life and to contact a service dept. Have checked the ink pads to see if they need replacing but they appear okay. How do you reset this printer. Would you know if you can get a service manual from anywhere for this model printer. I would really appreciate any advise you can supply Linda
Re: Re: Epson service utility program by WaveGuide (12/27/06 5:26 AM)
Hello Linda, Sounds like you need to reset the waste ink pad Protection Counter or more likely Clear the Counter Overflow. These are handled by the ubiquitous SSC Utility, which covers the R230 and can be downloaded from here http://inkjetprinterhelp.us/epsonSSC.html
After you install the SSC software, uninstall the Epson Status Monitor or they will undoubtedly clash. You'll probably have to uninstall all the Epson stuff in one go, then reinstall the R230 driver plus any other stuff you really need from the CD. Choose to Custom Install when the CD asks what you wish to install, otherwise it will load the lot again.
Kindly help me on this.. my epson printer R230 is not working for almost 2 weeks. When I opened it, the ink and paper jam red lights blink alternately. When I clicked the printer icon in the monitor, it says.. "service required. Parts inside your printer are at the end of their service life. See your printer documentation." I don't know if the ssc service utility program would be of help to this matter but I would like to try it still. To those who have this program, kindly email me pls. Tnx. Your help will be very much appreciated.
Re: Re: Epson service utility program by Anonymous (1/2/07 3:26 PM)
How dumb can you get. There are 5 posts in a row from WaveGuide that point to the software. 5 posts in a row and you misse them all. Even if it was posted again you would STILL HAVE TO READ IT.
I'm in total agreement. It takes quite a while to scroll through the posts and delete them 1 by 1. I took out close to 300 of them today and left just the mostly pertinent ones. Think that will stop them? Not a chance! Ignorance is incurable. Fortunately, some clever, evil people invented viruses and spyware. Eventually, these same ignorant people will download enough of them so their computers will seize up.
Re: Re: Epson service utility program by moe (1/2/07 6:10 PM)
I liked this one so much, I decided to leave it up as a shining example of the 300+ posts just like it that I deleted from this thread today. "Looked all over but can't find a link", when it's only been posted maybe 20 times above where anon e. mouse posted. Using my psychic abilities, I have sent him/her/it a copy via thought transference or ESP.

I NEED A UTILITY/RESETTER PROGRAM FOR R300 AND 9600 ULTRACHROME - BOTH EPSON - ANY ADVICE ON HOW TO USE THEM WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED- THANKS -JERRY
Re: Re: Epson service utility program by Anonymous (1/16/07 8:12 PM)
like the others, i've got the service error message, "parts inside your printer have reached the end of their service life. see your printer documentation." while i'm cleaning the printer nozzles.
i've already got the ssc service utility. i've already right clicked on the system tray icon i've already reset the protection counter
but guess what? SSC told me, "printer off, or some other problem"
and the lights still keep on blinking no matter what i do.
clearing the counter overflow does nothing. it yields no response.
