HP4250 Swing Plate Kit

I recently ordered a HP LaserJet 4250/4350 Swing Plate Repair Kit and I wanted to tell you how absolutely wonderful my experience was. First, a little about me, my official working title is “Help Desk Analyst” but until about 6 months ago it was “Accounting Clerk.” I had no hardware experience at ALL. And now I am a HARDWARE GOD! Or at least my policy services and accounting departments think so because I’ve given them back their printers. Management had written off two of our HP LaserJet 4250’s because of the fuser racket. We replaced one of the machines with a cheaper model with less features and were going to deactivate totally and not replace the other because we are “rearranging people” and the consensus from management was that the “dead” machine was just an extra anyway. My users disagreed and had even begged me to give them back their noisy machine and promised never to complain about the noise again. To help my users, I thought to Google repair kits and found your site. I worked out an agreement with my manager and he agreed that if I would purchase the part myself and attempt to fix it and got the printer working again , the company would pay me back if it did not work then I learned a cheap lesson about trying to fix things on my own. Needless to say it worked. The only negative to come out of this is now they (users and management) will expect me to be able to fix every printer in the building! I hope I can am up to the task and that you guys have the parts we need. The directions were perfect for even a non-hardware person like me to understand. The pictures are genius! We’ll be ordering more parts in the next day to fix the other old machine and put it back in production. We own 4 more HP machines that are no longer under warranty so I think we’ll be stocking up on Swing Plate Repair Kits, one started banging today! I did have a suggestion for your step 6 direction where you say that “it will take a bit of patience to manipulate the various pieces…” I found that if I stuck a unbent paperclip thru the hole (from the outside of the machine) thru the gear then the spacer and then slid the paperclip into the screw hole on the metal gear shaft I was able to easily line the 3 pieces up and then I could easily reinsert the screw where the paperclip had been. Moe, Tired of 6 to 10 sheets feeding through with each page printed on my HP 5L, I was ready to buy another printer when I found reference to the Laser Service site in the newsgroups. I took a chance and purchased the HP-5L/6L Multi Sheet/No Feed Kit. I watched the video, followed the simple instructions, and my printer now works as good as it did when it was new! I felt compelled to write a few lines and thank you for the great service that you provide. A few days ago, my HP 4M broke down with a 50 Service error message. I had no idea what that meant other than big bucks to repair my printer or buying another one altogether. I contemplated my options for a couple of days, then decided to see what info I could find about the problem on the web. I did a quick search, and your information came up. Your explanation of the problem was sooooooooooooooo concise and clear, and the pictures so easy to follow that I decided that I was going to give you guys a try for the ridiculously low price of your repair kit. I had no high expectations, and actually I thought that I was probably throwing away my money just to satisfy my curiosity. Nevertheless I placed my order, and two days later I had the repair kit. It took me about 15 minutes to replace the faulty part, and the printer has been up and running without a problem. I was ready to dish out a lot of money for a new printer because I figured finding a good service shop and getting a repair estimate alone would cost me untold hassles and fair amounts of time. The way I see it, you guys have saved me at least four or five hours of time searching for a reasonable repair service and taking my printer to their shop. I am sure that I would have had to pay upwards of $200 to get the printer working again. You diagnosed the problem for me, sent the repair kit to my door, and your clear instructions had me fix the printer in all of 15 minutes. All for just 40 bucks!!!

Thanks for the prompt service after our brief telephone conversation. The repair kit and video arrived the very next day. I watched the video from beginning to end and was at first discouraged by the apparent complexity of replacing the scanner motor since half the printer had to be disassembled just to get to it. I decided to watch it again just to make sure I would rather make the drive down to Redondo Beach. My second viewing convinced me that I should at least try. I came home Friday night, had dinner and a glass of wine, set up my trusty Workmate portable work bench in my home office, grabbed my screwdriver and popped in the video. From beginning to end it took about 60 minutes. I printed out the test pages and then some projects in progress. SUCCESS !!! Thanks for a great product, not to mention the sense of accomplishment.

clogged epson no more

I have never been one for testimonials, but I have to write you and say "thanks" for developing such a great product at a reasonable cost. I have an Epson Stylus 500 in which the black ink seemed to clog suddenly, and no matter what I tried, it was to no avail. I presumed that the printer was dead, the head shot, or whatever. Contacted Epson support by e-mail and was told to call their support number for a diagnosis. Can't imagine the repair cost would be justified. Then I happened to see a reference to your web site in MacAddict, ordered your magic solution, and one application later, it is printing as good as ever. My kids thank you too, as this is their printer...

thanks. you guys are amazing. you shipped the order super fast and you even included instructions with pictures explaining the installation. i have been so shocked by how much you helped me. i can't believe you even knew how to diagnose my problem, let alone had a part for it. i had a terrible time trying to figure out what was wrong through hewlett-packard's web site. at one point, hewlett-packard wanted to send me a $200 "repair kit." the only way i found to tell why my paper was crinkling as it came out of the printer was to accidentally stop by your web site, and my problem was solved in minutes - faulty paper rollers. and the bill? $24, including shipping. just amazing.

After taking my multifeeding HP Laserjet 1100 printer to a local repair shop, I was charged $35 for them to estimate that my printer would cost upwards of $150 to fix, and would take several days at least. I said thanks, but no thanks and then tried going online to find out what to do with it. I ended up buying an $89 repair kit from another site (sorry) and after getting piss-poor instructions and dealing with absolutely atrocious customer service, I ended up shelling out another $20 (!) to them to return the mess. So, with over $60 in the hole, and a still broken printer, I gave one last ditch attempt and found your kit, which at $19.95 seemed a little too reasonably priced given what I'd been through. Used your kit for HP IIP Scanning Motor and it ROCKED

I have to say that buying your kit was one of the most enjoyable computer transactions I've ever had in my computer career. The video was straightforward and to the point and very informative and EXACTLY what the Average Joe needs to help make the fix. Good camerawork too! (thanks , cameraman) If there were people and businesses that produced products like yours for all the various gadgets that power our lives, I think that 1) They'd be wildly successful and 2) They'd do a lot to help the layperson understand the world around them and also to feel like they were taking charge of that world. As for the kit... well, it fixed my Error 52 problem and it produces GREAT pages, but the rollers have deteriorated too far since it was last working properly so now it both fails to pick up without me pushing the paper in and also accordions the pages as they come out. :-/ At least it prints! And it's ok.... I've already ordered kits to replace the rollers. ;)

I do have a question, though: Just how fast does the motor in the scanning assembly spin? If it still works, I would like to build a toy or two out of the old motor and mirror assembly plus a laser pointer and was curious as to how fast I could get it.

Laserwriter 360 - Right side Fade

'just to let you know that my *9-yr* old son fixed our printer this week. He viewed your video several times ahead of time and together we launched into it.

With the exception of a few guidance comments here and there, as well as optics cleaning, he did the entire repair. (We had my laptop right there and viewed on segment at a time.) I poked 30-40 holes in cardboard with a nail and he put the screws into those holes in the order which he removed them from the printer. It was a great father/son bonding experience. Your video was great. Total time was about 1.75 hrs.

One comment: When you do your next video, put back the screws in the exact opposite order that you removed them. We had to back up a few times and see which location the screw went.

Thanks and well done! The $24 was a great value. I am now looking for other 360's that have the same problem so I can pick them up for a song and fix them.

Just a short note to say "What fantastic service".

Having two recalcitrant HP laserjet printers, the first an HP5L with the 'large appetite for paper' fault and the second an HP4 with the 'let's turn your document into an accordian' syndrome. I knew that as far as HP were concerned, money talks and it would be mostly saying "goodbye".

However, I came across your site and I thought 'what have I to lose?' Although I am located in the UK, this did not prove an obstacle and 7 days later the two repair kits arrived (courtesy of the USA postal service and the Royal Mail). Thank you SO much for "fixyourownprinter.com." You've renewed my faith in humankind (boy does that sound like a line! But it's true!) My printer was showing a fuser problem. I called almost eight repair shops that quoted me $75-$100 for parts and $80-150 for labor! Some even told me to just throw out my printer and get a new one - it would probably be cheaper and more worthwhile. When I found "fixyourownprinter.com" it seemed way too good (and honest) to be true. But it worked - I got your kit and fixed my printer in about 2 and a half minutes! When I realized that all I was doing was changing a lightbulb, it made me want to call back all those printer places and tell them what frauds and swindlers they all are for charging me $100 bucks for a lightbulb and $150 bucks to install a light bulb. First let me apologize for taking so long to send this email. The only excuse I have is that Ive been working non stop since you saved my Epson Action Laser printer and my life!!!!!!!!!!!!

For anyone reading this email that has reservations usings Moe's repair kits or expertise, let me say that after I called 10 or more [supposedly] computer repair centers, I called Moe. Not only did these repair centers not have the part in stock, but their costs were outrageous.

One day after years of faithful service, my old LaserJet 4L started making a horrible grinding noise. I figured it was time to put the old girl out to pasture but after shopping for a new LaserJet and finding out they now cost $300+, I decided there must be an another alternative. That's when I found fixyourownprinter.com.

My printer's grinding noise was described perfectly and the diagnosis was right on the mark. The new motor arrived in about 4 days with a mpeg that show me exactly which screws to remove and how easy it was to make the repair. The video lasted ten minutes and it took me, an untrained and unskilled amateur, fifteen minutes to complete the job. Video instructions; you guys are geniuses.

Your Laserjet 4 kit (to repair the accordion fold problem) is excellent! I was a little intimidated by the instruction CD, but after viewing it completely, I gave it a try. I completed the repair without losing or damaging any parts. Although, some still close-ups of key assembly points would have been nice, I must say you did an excellent job of showing how to get the job done. You have saved me hundreds of dollars and many days of frustration. I am sure the local repair folks would have gone along with my idea that I needed a new fuser to fix the problem, and then charged me big bucks.

I cannot begin to tell you how happy I am about your service. We have a Laserwriter IINTX and we have had to order the pickup kit, exit jam kit, groaning noise kit and power supply. I bought a HP LaserJet 4 when they first came out many years ago. I thought it was cursed with its exit jam. I had it serviced numerous times but it still was unreliable. I went through many rounds with HP about it. I hated to use it for anything important. I'm still on the original toner cartridge because it was "down" so often. Your kit sounded like what I needed. The video instructions were sufficient for me to install the new parts. I thought they looked identical to what I had in there, but they sure work better!

I am delighted to report that your $39 kit has totally solved my problem and the printer has been operating perfectly for the past several weeks. I think I spent more than the kit cost on phone calls to HP in the past.

Much thanks for your EXCELLENT video and kit. We just fixed our HP 3100 printer. We needed to clean the optics/lenses and replace the roller. I found your company thru a "google" web search for "HP 6L paper jams". That search returned names of your company as well as other companies that offered similar repair kits for $50 more than yours and theirs was without video instructions. After reading your web page (and especially the testimonials) and the 100% success rate with this kit, I decided your kit would be the way to go because of the technical expertise you exhibit (you are not a "parts swapper") on your web site. I consider myself to be a fairly expert DIY'er and am not afraid to tackle almost any repair job (provided that it is not too high off the ground). I want to thank you and your company for the excellent mail order service and HP 6L multi-sheet feed repair kit you supplied. I ordered the kit on a Friday (before Noon, your time) and received the kit via USPS mail on Monday! The video enclosed with the kit is an excellent teaching tool and certainly makes the installation a lot simpler. I had never had my 6L apart (I wanted to give its innards a good cleaning in hopes that it would help the paper feed problem, but didn't know how to get the cover off.) - the video explains disassembly (and all other facets of the repair) in a manner the written word could not convey. So, I sat me and my printer down in front of the TV and had at it. All in all the repair was painless, and I saved at least $99 (the quote from the local CompUSA repair facility for minimum printer repair labor) by DIM (doing it myself). And, the kit success rate is still 100%! The printer now works perfectly! Thank You! The only trouble I had was that the orientation (where the high side went) of the paper pickup roller could have been explained better - perhaps noting the relationship of the high side of the roller to the black and white cams on the shaft. The video was not quite clear enough to show the position of the paper pickup roller. Had I been more observant of the arrangement of parts on the shaft before I disassembled it, I would not have had the trouble, but after lots of stop-action video review, I was able to figure it out, and it must be right, because it works! Again, thank you for the excellent service and quality of the repair kit!

I am most pleased with the LaserJet repair, it was a snap to install after watching your CD video. This is Great, for the cost of an Inkjet print cartridge I get my laser printer back. It would not have been cost effective if I had to pay someone to repair it. I searched the WEB with the hope that I might find something like your product. I thought that the problem with the printer was most likely something simple but I had no way to determine what failed. What a great find for me, everything in one package.

One for the compliments file!

I am sooo mad at HP. I have a 5L that has NEVER fed correctly. Just recently I got fed up and tossed in the garage garbage can, figuring the money I would spend on having it fixed would be better spent on a new printer. I am very mechanically inclined, but laser printers have always scared me; so many little parts, springs, etc. to easily foul me up. Then I ran across your service. The show and tell video is what sold me on the idea. I retreived the printer from the trash, watched the video first, then did the job with he video paused or replayed where needed. I took a little longer than the person in the video, but your experience shows, but less than ans hour all total for me. Ran half a ream through the printer that night and it is now back in use! All the little tips given along the way are invaluable. Without them I would surely have lost some of those parts, or put pieces in backwards. Actually, I wouldn't have even attepmted it without the video guide. Paper instructions would not be detailed enough.

After finally getting ahold of a authorized Epson repair center in Rhode Island (none in my state of Connecticut). The Technician (?) told me that "you might as well take a stick of dynamite and blow the printer up." He said the part would be at least $400 IF he could get it. My wife found your site. I recently purchased a scanner motor assembly and feed roller repair kit for my HP IIIP from your company. This printer had been sitting in a closet for almost two years after the error 52 first occurred.

Several days later when the parts arrived, I installed them without any problems. The videos were very good. When the job was completed, the printer was working again. The error 52 was gone and the feed problems I remembered it having were fixed.

Your HP LaserJet IIp Error 52 Kit

Two years ago I started my own business. I had an old HP LaserJet IIp that still worked great and chose to use that as my business printer. A few weeks ago, the IIp stopped working and showed an Error 51 message. My business printer was in trouble and so was my business. I took the printer to a local computer repair shop. They diagnosed a scanner motor failure and quoted me $389.99 to fix it! I politely said no thank you, when I could buy a new laser printer for much less.

I just had to write to congratulate you on both your excellent service and products.

I ordered my repair kit on Monday morning and it arrived in the post on the Friday of the same week, the amazing thing about this is that I live in England!! Incredibly fast service.

The kit was excellent with everything laid out on the CD video to follow step by step. I have never attempted a repair like this before, but with the video, it's as good as having a highly skilled engineer stood with you, for as long as you need while you get the job done. My printer is as good as new - I'm delighted.

When my Apple LaserWriter 16/600 started accordian folding the bottom of pages, I surfed around and discovered your site. I was somewhat leary of ordering your kit since you had no specific "testimonials" about this particular printer, but figuring most laser printers are about the same, I decided to give it a try.

When your kit arrived, I popped the tape into the VCR only to have it eat the tape and refuse to spit it out! No problem, you shipped me another tape. Thanks!

On to another VCR and the printer repair. Your instructions were unusually clear (a rarity these days) and easy to follow. I was able to complete the procedure in about 2 hours and the printer now works great!

BTW - My only other option for getting this printer fixed was to drive 60 miles to TechSource. They quoted me an estimate of $200 for parts and $50-100 for labor. (Compare that to $47.12 and 2 hours of time.) When I asked what parts they were going to replace, they told me that was a trade secret!

Thanks for the HP 5L-6L paper jam repair kit. I ordered it on a Sunday and had the package delivered on my doorstep in France the following Friday. Took me about 2 hours to install. By the way, I think watching the video on a cd (MPEG) on my computer was much more handy than actually watching it on a TV screen, as you can easily pause and rewind the video. Although I did not catch some of the (technical) names of tiny bits and parts (due to the American accent, which I am not familiar with), the whole thing was so clear that it made the operation a breeze. Congratulations on the excellent "didactic" tone of the technician (have you thought of being a teacher? have you been one in another life?). Congratulations too on your excellent idea of providing the necessary parts to make my old faithful HP 5L come back to life. I am currently writing up my thesis, and was rather apprehensive of having to print around 500 pages by inserting the sheets one by one! One funny thing is that I came upon your site quite by chance, as I was looking for information about color calibration after I had purchased a new color ink jet printer...

LJ4 accordion jam / exit jam kit

I've been having problems with my Laserjet 4 getting the "accordion jam" and "wave" for several months. I figured it would be better to just deal with it rather than pay for the "professional" repair (enough money to pay the majority of cost for a new laser). I've been considering trying to get the parts and do it myself, but was worried about doing more damage than good while "fixing" it. I saw your site and reviews and figured I'd give your repair kit a try. Two days later, the package was at my doorstep. I played the video and went step by step with the easy to follow instructions. In less than an hour, my Laserjet 4 was printing like it did the day I bought it new (7 years ago).

I just received and installed the separation pad kit for my HP 5L printer. It has been having trouble for many months (jamming, multiple sheets feeding), and I have been forced to use it as a single-sheet printer - what a pain in the ass! I don't remember how I happened to stumble upon your website, but I'm sure glad I did. The $35 I sent to you for the kit to correct the problem was the best money I've spent in some time! Man, I sure wish I had heard about you before. The video was great ... I especially liked the part where the tech. "lost" the e-clip retaining clip, as it went flying into the air. Laserwriter problem-can I fix this myself???

The CD ROM was great as I could go back over the parts I had trouble with several times. I was ready to buy a new printer but for $34 including shipping and $48 for a new toner cartridge my printer is like new.

I successfully installed the LaserWriter II pickup jam repair kit - the video was extremely helpful, and now my printer is working again. The only minor trouble I had was a few stripped screws and not tightening the screw holding the pickup roller in place enought at first, causing it to pop out of place.

Many thanks. I was fully prepared to spend hundreds of dollars buying a new laser printer because I expected that repairing the old LaserWriter would cost almost as much. However, thanks to your kit and a logic board upgrade I put in a year or so ago, the LaserWriter IINT I purchased over ten years ago (now a IIg) is serving me well and ought to continue to do so for quite some time. I will wholeheartedly recommend your repair kits to anyone else in a similar situation. :)

Received kits

I got the Epson cleaner and the AC power module replacement kits today in the mail. After scanning through the video once, I let it play and took the LWII apart in (nearly) real time. Replaced the AC power module and the ozone filter, put it all back together, hooked it back to the network and AC and...

...it worked!

So now I've got my LWII back (just in time for tax season). I've soaked the Epson's black ink sponge pad with the cleaning solution (color works OK), and tomorrow I'll see if I've got that back too!

Hi, I ended up using your product after accidentally buying a couple "repair kits" off of ebay. It turned out that the kits sent to me from ebay actually made the printers go from a multiple feed issue to stop printing completely. After watching your video I was able to install two kits into both HP 5L's and now they print like new! Installed your Exit Paper Jam kit in my LaserWriter Pro 600 last night. OK, it took me 3 hours because I am a complete nimrod when it comes to mechanical things (didn't get that gene, I guess), but it's in, and the printer works great.

Suggestion to my mechanically-challenged brethren: when it's not coming together, take breaks, watch and re-watch the video, and try again. The video really does show everything, but sometimes it helps to watch a particular part of the procedure a few times before attempting it again.

The two hardest parts: those darn E-thingies that you have to pry off; and the seating of the repaired unit back into the printer (this took me almost 45 minutes, and the top cover simply won't go on unless it's in there properly). Some close-ups of how those little latches look when the unit is properly seated would help.

Thanks a million. You saved me about $100!

One final thing: do you guys sell re-conditioned toner units for the LWPro 600?

I recently received my two repair kits and the video 'HPLJ 5L/6L Multiple-Sheet/No-Feed Repair Video' and repaired my 6L and a client's 5L with the multi-feed problem. The 5L was unusable, apparently due to a sensor problem after a jam. Both of us had endured months of incredible aggravation as the printers sucked 5 and 10 pages at a time. I loved the video! Especially the ending, '...this completes the repair...'. To celebrate, I printed a 30 page document--not a single misfeed. My only regret was not hearing about you (on comp.perihps.printers) before I tore my Epson 740 apart and threw it in the garbage, after getting one replacement from Epson, because of constantly clogged printheads.

On Friday July 6, 2001 my Digital DECLaser 1152 (engine HP IIP/IIIP) stopped working. Our Company IT tech/support person said it could be weeks to get it fixed. We would have to find someone who would repair an older Digital laser printer and at a service rate of $60 to $100 plus parts. A quick search on the Google search engine led me to your site. The questions and answers trouble shooting guide listed my EXACT problem, and a simple inexpensive solutiuon.

It's tax time, time to print a copy of my returns, oh ....darn! My trusty (and old) HPIIP plus is reporting error code 51 and and occasionally error code 52. It also sound like some little motor was spinning far too fast. Occasionally after many attempts with I would get it to print (no high-speed motor noise). A very quick google search "hp printer error code 52" pointed me to you folks. I read and searched the testimonials for 51 & 52 errors. It seemed that all the very happy customers had reports their problem as 52 errors. I was a bit reluctant to order the scanner motor kit because of this infrequent mention. I'm very happy that I took the gamble. In real-time repair mode ran the CD Repair Video and was almost able to keep up with it. I had to pause a few time to find the correct screws. The installation and test took only about 35 minutes. I'm also very glad you added the additional checks. I found that my drum clutch was also cracked. It hasn't caused a problems so far, but that part's on order too.

You folks offer a great service at a very fair price. The repair video really adds to to a quality kit. And, thank God for "google"!

Just thought I'd send in a word of thanks for the repair kit. It did the job!

My 5 year old HP 5L had quite a while ago taken on the annoying habit of feeding more than one sheet of paper through when printing, so we'd been living with having to manually feed each page one at a time - what a pain!

Then I recently decided to get the thing fixed. This was not a cheap printer at the time of purchase and I hate throwing things away. Unfortunately all the quotes I was getting from computer stores was that it would cost over $100 to fix.

Good morning.

I have about a dozen LaserWriter II Apple printers, some of which have seen better days. I was reluctant to toss them, as I knew they're salvageable, but the estimates from the local shops were many times what I was willing to spend to repair them. I read about your site someplace, can't remember where. One recent Sunday night, with some trepidation, I ordered pickup jam kits for 2 machines. The kits arrived the following Thursday. The video cassette arrived smashed, but I carefully glued it back together and watched it. That evening I installed one of the new infeed rollers. The job took me about 45 minutes. The printer works perfectly. Two evenings later I installed a kit in another printer. This one took longer as I dropped a screw down some God-forsaken hole and I finally found it after removing the logic board. This printer also works perfectly. Not only am I impressed with your parts kits, but that video makes your service many times more useful. There are many things people would attempt to repair if they could only first see a demonstration, and your video fills this need very well. I checked a local shop for parts prices now that I know what's needed to repair more printers. The prices I was quoted for parts are at best equal to yours, most are more expensive, and some aren't even available. So I have placed an order for more repair kits. I am confident that soon my printer fleet will be running as well as the day it was new. Please feel free to use my experience any way you wish.

I Fixed My Own Printer!!!!

I fixed my own printer!!!! For only $29.00. Really, it's not difficult at all and the (new) video makes it very clear. The whole process took me about an hour. The local shop wanted about $150.00 for the repair.

No more muti-sheet feed problems, it runs like a charm.

Unbelievable - a personally prepared reply within 15 minutes, late at night, and right on target! I had, indeed, bent the connector back. I fixed it quite easily. The 50 service error is gone and the printer is back in action. Because your advice was exactly right and so lightning fast, I can continue to work from home this weekend rather than going in to the office to print out my documents Sunday evening. That saved me at least 2 hours which, at my hourly rate, is several times the cost of the repair kit. Your customer service exceeded my wildest expectations.

Some time ago, I contacted you about my LaserWriter IIg screaming like a banshee. You said to try "tweaking" the connectors. For various reasons (like the fact that I could use my inkjet, and that I'm basically lazy), I put it off. However, this morning, I was trying to kill time beforeheading to work, so I thought, "What the heck." Took ten minutes to find all the screws so that I could get to the connectors, followed the instructions on tweaking, which took all of five minutes, and son-of-B! It worked!! My beloved 12-year-old printer (which started life as a IISC) is working beautifully again! You are awesome! Thanks again!

Hello there! We got a laserjet 4 about a year ago from where my aunt works. They said the printer was always screwing up their paper and all, so they didn't want it anymore (they even had a technician check it out, he changed a couple of pieces in it, but never solved their problem). For a while, we thought they were nuts, goes we didn't have any problems with the printer. But a couple of weeks ago, it has started having more and more paper jams. We ordered a exit paper jam repair kit (might not be the exact name) and now the printer works as if it was new! The video had clear and simple instructions. Maybe a thing you could work on is the zoom'ing part of the video, but other than that, a big 10/10!

Just wanted to thank you for the repair kit for my HP LaserJet 1100. The printer was both jaming frequently and printing multiple pages. I'd print a 10 page document and get a few blank pages in there, I'd be lucky if it didn't jam. I tried multiple types and prices of paper, but nothing seemed to help.

I found your repair kit online, I think via one of the newsgroups, and have not had a problem since, problem solved! The installation was easy and could be done by anyone.

TJ - 5si Second Pass Roller

The printed instructions were very helpful but I could not have done it without using a combination of those instructions and the service manual. The service manual was great for pictures of components and getting the covers off. The printed instructions were particularly helpful once I got the PIU out because the service manual didn't go any further. I took my time, ( apprehensive I would screw something up & have a worse problem.) I cleaned everything I came across, labeled each component with its proper name, taped the screws to it, and set them in the order I took them off. I spent about 4 - 5 hours total and was so happy when I ran a paper path test of 50 pages of legal through tray 3 without a jam. I got a feather in my hat here at work. My supervisor said that 3 different people looked at the problem & over 3 years time, none of them fixed it. I've also been given the LJ printers in my dept. to maintain. There are five 5si, one 4V, two 4 Plus, one 4, and one IIP. I ordered the exit jam kit for the 4 Plus the other day. I expect that to be a breeze after the 5si. You'll probably remember me, I'm the girl in North Alabama who's going to be a printer tech eventually. With my first repair being a success, I'm hooked. I have gotten interested in printers by reading your forum. Every morning I get a coke & get updated on everyone else's printer problems. (from your site). I just wanted to say thank you to everyone at Laser Service. I like the way you do business.

I have owned 2 HP Laserjet 4plus's since they first came out. All these years they have received minimal use compared to what they are rated for, but both are used in a pretty harsh environment. About a year ago I started having problems with paper handling. I took one to a HP service center and asked that they rebuild everything inside that affects paper handling. It came back, with a substantial charge, and worked a little bit better for about a week. I looked inside, I don't believe they changed any parts. Just cleaned.

For the past year I have opened one or the other up several times trying to clean things and replace parts that I had ordered from various places. Always with the same results, it would work better for about a week. I had even ordered some parts that I still have no idea where they go.

I didn't want to give up on these two machines so I started looking for a company like yourselves. Not really thinking I would find one. Well I did and ordered two HP Laserjet 4/4+/5 Exit Jam Repair Kits in May of 2001. I received them immediately and it was a pleasure to do business with your company. I didn't get around to giving them a try until this morning, partly because I had gotten used to using my ink jets in place of them and I had my doubts as to what I was getting for $39.00. I really did. I have spent a lot more and gotten a lot less in the past year.

The video tape is a great idea. I watched it once and then started on printer #1 referring to the tape when needed. I had such confidence in the repairs that when I finished #1 I didn't even hook it up and try it. Instead I went and got printer #2 and did that one. Both went smoothly, both are working better than they have in over a year, and I think they will stay that way for quite sometime. Once again I would just like to thank you for doing business as you do and I know a lot of people that I am going to be recommending you to.

Thank you for the prompt shipment of my HP IIP/IIP Inside Printer Accordion Jam Repair kit. Other than some difficulty getting the Apple printer apart, especially prying the side cover apart far enough to get the lower screw out and then pry the cover plate out of the way, the replacement went ok and corrected the problem. Thanks for providing an economical means to repair relatively simple problems. A local shop quoted $100 labor just to look at the unit and then charge for whatever parts would be needed.

I'll recommend you to all of my friends.

Just a quick note to tell you of yet another success story with the 5L/6L Multiple Sheet Feed repair kit. The video was great in demonstrating how to fix this. Very complete! 5L works as good as when I got it 5 years ago. Thanks for providing such a great service for a very reasonable price. I will visit your website first before I go anywhere else with any printer problem. Was about ready to throw out the printer until this fix...now it should be good for another 5 years.

Let me add my words to the other words of appreciation.

My Laserjet IIIp was put back into service after two years in a box. Error 52 popped up and the HP site had no solution save for a note from a guy working at a printer repair house. He estimated $100 for the scanner assy.

Then I found your site. It was a matter of 45 seconds (let me repeat: 45 seconds!) to find the kit and another minute to order it and get it on its way.

Sure, I ended up with one spare screw (my fault; I'll trace it down later), but your video and part did the job. I purchased a 3.6V power driver for the job ($20) and a long steel bit ($2) and magnetized it, which made the job a whole lot easier. That, plus the $50 for the scanner motor assy. is still 30 bucks less than I could have paid. And I got a nice new screwdriver out of it. Thanks for a great site and a great service. This is exactly what the web is made for!

Thanks to the diagnostic information on your website and the scanner motor kit, my Apple PLW NTR is back up and running! I figured the CDROM version of the fix it video was the best choice - I had Movieplayer running on my Mac and paused the video now and then while I replaced the part.

I recently ordered the HP 5L/6L paper jam kit from you. Last night after studying the video I went through the repair procedure (which was not as difficult as I anticipated) reconnected the printer and eagerly awaited my first print. Shock horror - The error light came on and stayed on. I re-examined the video and checked all the connectors/sensors etc.

It was not until 10 minutes later that I realised I'd forgotten to replace the toner cartridge (Dohh !) - The printer now works fine, just like new.
